In "No Second Prances", a minor plot point was that Starlight, when talking to Dashie, didn't know what the Wonderbolts are. Not only did "Newbie Dash" pass up the opportunity to have Dash introduce Starlight to the Wonderbolts and teach her what the 'Bolts were all about, Glimglam didn't appear at all. Unlike many people, Newbie Dash was a good episode to me, i just felt this was a wasted opportunity.

So true I would have loved to see Rainbow imitate Starlight and what's worse is that Starlight doesn't even get a cameo

'Newbie Dash' was a Rainbow Dash episode, adding Starlight Shimmer into it would have detracted from that fact.  They were already trying to compress quite a lot into a very short timeframe, trying to squeeze in an additional, and unnecessary, character would have complicated it even further without contributing anything worthwhile and would have weakened the episode as a whole.

 

Rainbow is a Wonderbolt now, she has all the time in the world to introduce Starlight to her colleagues.

Well Starlight would have been introduced to them sooner or later. Also, I think that it was one of the best episodes ever.

I think it was, in some ways, merciful that Starlight was left out of such a bad episode. A cameo would have been nice, but had she been included in the episode, there would have been the likelihood that she would have been forced into the episode as comic relief like the rest of the Mane 6, at the expense of her character.

 

Given that possibility, I'd rather they sideline her than draw her into what was already a bad episode for all the other characters as well.

I would of liked to have Starlight in the group scenes just cause she's part of the group of friends now but having a whole B-Plot about her wouldn't of worked, there wouldn't of been the time. You know when you have only 22 minutes you really have to pick and choose what your gonna do.
