general media Cliches That You're Tired Of

I hate the cliche where the to people hate each other and are all like "we are so not getting together by the end of the movie" and then they do. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!!

The unnecessary Sex or Love Scenes in almost every freaking Movie, Series, Animation...there is almost always a Love Story.

The worst things are Sex Scenes in Horror Movies, first off, shouldnt i get scared from a Horror Movie?

And whats the point in having a sex scene, if you dont show anything anyway? ( im not asking for uncensored Scenes, since i dont want to see them, i just wanted to point out, how useless i find them ) Why is it there? Why?

Sex Scenes are just awkward to watch for me...and feel way out of place.

@Lex Destrosio They have those in the movies so the director can see it. It is not censored for him...

This story has a strong female protagonist! And so you know she's strong, her male sidekick is the most WORTHLESS WASTE OF SPACE YOU'LL EVER SEE. Or at the very least, a goofy joke.

Normally, I would agree, but Kim Possible took this cliche and ran with it. Ron Stoppable gradually grew as a character. In the very last episode, he stepped up big time and KILLED the bad guy when he saw that  his beloved Kim was about to be destroyed! My favorite quote from the episode is...

"I think the sidekick just stepped up... monkey-style!"

- Shego

The "Monkey Style" wasn't even an insult. Ron finally mastered his "Monkey Kung Fu", and went all Super Saiyan on the alien invaders! He became Un-Stoppable!

I put this clip in a spoiler. It shows how to develop the sidekick the right way.

Deus Ex Machina. As much as I love action movies to death, when this happens, I go "pfft. I saw that coming."

It's when a hero and a villain do an intense fight, the villain beats up the hero, making him too weak to fight, then the villain decides to finish the hero off by shooting him, blowing a killer punch etc. but before the villain kills the hero, another hero kills the villain, saving the weak hero's life.

^The climax to almost every movie EVER. :okiedokieloki:

Have you ever watched an anime called "Oh Edo Rocket"? They intentionally and quite literally pulled a Deus Ex Machina, in the original meaning. It was fantastic! Plus, the theme was performed by Puffy Amiyumi!

5. Any "herd" fic that tells us polygamy is supposedly "not uncommon" (or something like that) in Equestria, but then only shows the main protagonist's herd and nopony else's, thus making the whole thing just look like cheap wish-fulfillment for the author.

Bad guys missing a ridiculous amount of gunshots, even if the good guys are in very vulnerable positions...just because the main characters can't die.

I have nothing against good guys winning in most fiction movies, but it gets on my nerves a little when it makes all of the villains terrible shooters.

To the point where I find stuff like this:

Useless stormtroopers cliche!! Yes, the main characters aren't going to get shot right now. We know this. Still, try to make the scene more believable, please?

Also... Han shot first.

Also... Name a female character that isn't a cliche. It's impossible.

Or any character at all, to be fair.

Do zombie apocalypses count as a cliche? I can't stand it, and I'm not just talking about the fad that has spawned movies/shows/games that are centered around zombie apocalypses, I'm talking about series that have nothing to do with the fad where they have one episode where there is a zombie apocalypse and it's completely random and ...dumb. I've noticed this particularly in anime. (One Piece is the only series where I have enjoyed the presence of zombies, but that's probably because they're absolutely nothing like zombies in other media, and not at all played like the other cases)

I also am not a big fan of the cliche where the villain kills their underling because they're 'too weak'. You know, like Vegeta killing Nappa. I don't know why, but I just don't like it.

"No one ever dies" can also be pretty bad. I love One Piece to death, but there are cases where a character not dying cheapens it horribly. Fairy Tail is also guilty of this, but I do not claim to be a fan of that series. It falls flat altogether, IMO, so it comes as no surprise that it would play this trope badly.

I honestly love most cliches, I don't know why, but I consider most of them classic and good tools in story telling.

I hate only a few and one in particular I just can't stand. I call it the Icarus'rebirth, but I'm sure it has an actual name somewhere. It's the cliche where the series technically ended last season and the writers decide to reset the characters growths and achievements. A notable one of these is pokemon, where Ash goes through a variant of this after every dang arc. The one that irked me the most was in community, they took away way too much making the past seasons of them working hard to achieve said ambitions, worthless.

The character type who's so mean, dark and brooding but inside S/HE'S SOO SAD AND BROKEN INSIDE AND U JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THEIR LIEF AND PAINNNN!!!!!

It's those people I feel no sympathy for, because they're flat, overdone and boring.  And also their rabid fans will then use their cliched sadness as an excuse for anything wrong they do.

That's why I like guys like Chouji Suitengu, Count Bleck, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Zaheer, etc.: They actually give a s*** about their underlings' well-being.

Another one I don't like is when something happens to a character and it looks like they died. There's sad music and everyone is sad and then suddenly...they open their eyes. This happens too frequently, especially in movies made for younger audiences.

Agree with the both of you, It's like it's become a rule that every villain has to abuse their weak underlings. Honestly, It's one of the reasons I consider Doflamingo so interesting. I was never quite sure if he cared or not.
