Is it disrespectful that Luna lacks her own holiday?

The Summer Sun Celebration is in honor of Sunbutt defeating Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Night is, again, in honor (or horror, to be more precise) of Nightmare Moon. It's a holiday dedicated to vilifying her, yet putting her on a pedestal with well known tales of her, and sacrificial candy offerings, as if she's a god. Yet, there are no holidays that glorify Princess Luna in her reformed glory. How do people feel about this?

I was about to say that Nightmare Night was about Princess Luna, but after explaining it like that, I understand what you're trying to say. However, you gotta remember, after the first Nightmare Night episode, everyone saw the celebration of Nightmare Night in a new light and now she's more involved in her own holiday.

but she was still seen having to shape shift into NMM. And surely, having to literally become your worst nightmare all over again would cause PTSD, even if she quit torturing herself with the Tantabus.

I haven't read it yet, but there's a G.M. Berrow book now for Princess Luna and the Festival of the Winter Moon where the Cutie Mark Crusaders try to create a new holiday specifically for Luna. Does that count?

Well, Nightmare Night is about the terrible villan called Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon is supposed to be Celestias (Gods) Sister, who turned evil. Which is why Nightmare Night is full of freight. The thing is, the day Luna came back, is the same day, Summer Sun Celebration is. So, you could add the comeback of Luna to the Summer Sun Celebration, because that's the day it happend. But it still would portray a bad light on Luna. Just think of how ponies would introcude the ceremony.  "Today is the day, we praise the sun and also the day, where the light brought back Luna from her evil rampage. All thanks to our god, Celestia."

The would need to be something, where everyone shows, how much they love luna. Because i am sure, there are some ponies appreciate the night.

So, yes. I believe it is disrespectful.

"You are right Starlight, you are more talented in magic than me. But talent doesn't mean, that you are privileged to have more power. It's the heart! All you need, to have power, is a heart!"

Maybe Nightmare Night, but the Summer Sun Celebration is pretty clearly now about Luna's return, which is why Celestia was so happy about it in "Princess Twilight Sparkle." Besides, I don't think Celestia has a celebration in her honour either.

Maybe.  I don't think Luna cares at all, but it would be nice if they had a day to honor her as well.  If they have the Summer Sun Celebration (basically a summer solstice party), then they really ought to have a winter solstice party, too.

Now, see, that's awesome.  That should be on the show.  They should just make that an episode.  It even ties in to their talent of helping others.  I mean, it's not a cutie mark problem, but not every CMC episode has to be.  It's still about helping others.  This would make such a great episode

A couple of things have shown up in the books before the show, like Pinkie having *three* sisters, where previously only two were shown. But other than that, yeah. I get the distinct impression from what the various show-staff, Berrow, and the comic-staff have said that there is a mandate from Hasbro that they *can't* reference the comics/novels in the show directly, even if they want to. Likely because it plays havoc with accounting. I *think* if the show was to use something from the comics/novels, the comic/novel writers would have to get paid on a completely different rate table.

I think it goes more on the line of more either not informing the show writers of the lore introduced on these medium, rather than some payment issues

It seemed Nightmare Night was more of a holiday to remember fearing Nightmare Moon which is something Luna should want to forget about since there is that episode Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep... yet she does appear in it and has many bow down to her which is weird, very inconsistent play on her.
