I want in, requesting the title "People's Commissariat for Pony".

And now for a more serious question: What will immediately replace the Capitalist/Democratic modr of production?

Unfortunately, my hands and wrists continue to bother me, so I am forced to be brief and cite the fifth Chapter of Lenin's The State and Revolution, given that this chapter is relevant to this discussion.

Furthermore, I highly recommend reading Lenin's The State and Revolution in its entirety, given that it is a classical work on the Marxist theory of the state.

Many of these changes were clearly written for a 19th century capitalism; in the contemporary era even the term "means of production" gets very confusing. Finally, too often we say that greatly reformed capitalism is socialism. No, it is not; one cannot reform a mode of production to become a completely new one, the old mode must be thrown out entirely. Sweden, for instance, is not socialist; it is simply a capitalist welfare state.

You're right; they were, but that doesn't mean that they're not relevant today. I try to believe that socialism can come about through peaceful, democratic processes, but my revolutionary colleagues can be quite convincing at times. The reason why I'm not too keen on the idea of a socialist revolution is because the leaders almost always turn against the ideas of the revolution, and that sucks. Sweden is a mixed economy that is leaning more towards the socialist side of the spectrum. Yes, it is capitalist, but the economy has many factors which mark their economy as socialist as well.

This is pure Marxism, so don't take it all as what we believe, because I don't even agree with Marx on many issues. As Karl Marx himself said, "I am not a Marxist." By saying this, he meant that his ideas were subject to the change and interpretation by socialist thinkers as well as by the necessity of his ideas in future scenarios.

Actually, Marx's satement of "I am not a Marxist" pertains to Marx disagreeing with a particular trend that was deemed "Marxist":

Nor have you any other source, i.e. other than Malon at second hand, for your reiterated assertion that in France ‘Marxism’ suffers from a marked lack of esteem. Now what is known as ‘Marxism’ in France is, indeed, an altogether peculiar product — so much so that Marx once said to Lafargue: ‘Ce qu'il y a de certain c'est que moi, je ne suis pas Marxiste.’ [if anything is certain, it is that I myself am not a Marxist]

While there are obvious differences between what Marx referred to and Stalinism, such a statement would be analogous to stating "if Stalin is considered to be a Marxist, then I am not a Marxist."

From each according to his ability, to each according to his contribution. The motto I have lived by as a Socialist. I believe if you contribute, you deserve to be treated. I find it amusing that so many people bash on Socialism and Communism. At it's heart it is a party who wants to right the ship and for once place the workers on a pedestal since they continually keep this country moving. Yet at each step on the lower middle and middle class you see rights being violated. As a training therapist (2 more months), I see people who have to make decisions that nobody should ever have to worry about.

1. fill the fridge or fill a prescription

2. Gas in the car or food in my belly

It makes me ill in a very vile way to hear that bootstrap BS. The rich will have you believe that because they somehow pulled of being rich that the poor should be able to as well. Well when the poor are being held down by legislation intended to delete the middle class it becomes quite the impossibility to rise up. The fatcats want to make it so women can't get their birth control, and they want to make public aid and medicare even more difficult than it already is (and as a worker who bills medicare and public aid I have seen these evils first hand), they want to lower taxes on the rich saying it will trickle down...hasn't yet

Then on top of all this...broken economy, crippling unemployment...they want us to think that people who might like a person of their same gender should be unable to enjoy the same benefits that my wife and I do because it is said somewhere in a book that by the way should have been separated from government decades ago since we are supposed to be separating church and state. Old Joe Worker who turns a turret lathe has to worry about money. Meanwhile, some rich bankers run a portion of the economy in the ground and then get paid extra for it

All of these and more are why I joined the Socialist party.
