spoiler Sunset's mindset...Does it bother anyone?

Much as I HATE to find flaw in Sunset Shimmer, LoE just had me cringing, more so at the "Embrace the Magic" song of hers. I get that she's still a pony at heary. she misses those dangerous treks and her world of pony magic. I get it. but....Is it REALLY OK for her to be so excited about her friends- magic less humans who shouldn't have magic in the first place playing around with even more magic? Shouldn't she be trying to collect all of it to bring it back to Equestrian, given the disaster we have seen magic wreak? Turning Shimmy into a demon, getting a sirens involved, tearing open wormholes to Equestria, turning ST into a demon, turning Glorious into mock Evergreen...none of this would have happened if magic hadn't been in a world that it didn't previously exist in, until Statswirl banished the Sirens to it.

Shouldn't Shimmy be cleaning up his mess, rather be excited her friends who shouldn't have magic now has stronger forms of it?

She was cautious and upset about it back in Friendship Games, trying to keep it under control and even getting angry at Twilight for nearly hurting one of her friends by being so careless with it. She blamed herself for the magic leaking through, since she's the one who brought it there.

In Legend of Everfree, that all changed though, instead of scared, she was excited about it, why?

The end of Friendship Games had her realizing where her friends magic was coming from, it was coming from within them when they showed the truest side of themselves, on top of that the ending also had her using that magic to turn into not a demon, but instead basically an Angel in order to stop Midnight Sparkle.

I think it's those last two events in particular that gave her the more positive outlook on magic in LOE. Magic in the human world can be corruptive and overpowering if you don't know how to control it, sure. But it's not all bad, it can be "Tamed" and used for good. The Mane 5 simply wanted to ignore their powers and hope they went away, which obviously wasn't going to happen, and that in itself could have been dangerous, having these abilities and not knowing how to control them? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

So, instead she tries to get them to embrace the magic and learn how to control it. Because magic isn't a bad thing in the right hooves, or hands, when safely controlled and used for the right reasons. Then it can be something wonderful, like friendship.

Even though the Sirens came before Sunset did, their magic was taken from them by Star Swirl although they had just enough power to allow them to feed on negative energy. It wasn't enough to be considered a threat until Equestrian Magic made its return although I wouldn't blame just Sunset. It was a combination of her own actions, Twilight's crown, and Twilight's resolve to reclaim said crown that allowed magic to exist in the human world. Sure it was a foreign entity--and still is in a lot of ways--but the girls have embraced it and made it their own without being consumed by it.

To control Equestrian magic is to create great things while being consumed by it is to bring about destruction.

Of course, you have to take into consideration what happened at the end of Legend of Everfree.

fact still remains that their world shouldn't have had magic in it, and still shouldn't. All these things happenning-whether good or bad- are all because of magic that doesn't belong in that world in the first place

And she already felt guilty and bad about that back in the Friendship Games, what's she going to do now? They have the magic powers, she couldn't just take them away. The girls wanted to just ignore it and act like nothing was wrong, which was worse because then they weren't figuring out how to control these powers. It was better they embraced the magic and learned how to control it.

Plus, when Gloriosa was trying to take too much magic and clearly losing control, Sunset did warn her and try to stop her from doing that, it's not like she's now forgotten how dangerous magic can be when you can't control it.

Starswirl didn't take the Siren's magic from them, rather he thought that they would powerless to use their magic in a world that had no magic of its own.  The Sirens power only awakened from its very much weakened state when Equestrian magic was introduced into the human world.

A shame that Star Swirl didn't have the power of foresight since he didn't know that the Sirens would eventually regain their magic accidentally courtesy of Sunset, but then she didn't know that they were in the human world at the time.

I think sunset is of the view that they're MEANT to have magic together, and that there's a purpose behind them having it, like fate. So I don't think its too crazy really. If you feel there's a greater purpose behind a super power, you'd be more excited about learning everything you could about it and embracing it, yeah?
