I don't count how many squares I use, that's weird. I just use the weight of the sheets to know if I have enough or not.

If it's that lousy one-ply toilet paper, it's about 6 or 8. Not many things as unpleasant as penetrating through your toilet paper in the heat of battle  .

I guess it depends on what I ate earlier on. Sometime just a few sheets will do the job, but then there are those ‘endless wipings’ that consume half a roll of TP without blinking. I hate those.
