movies/tv 'Adult' Cartoons

  1. Futurama

  3. Archer

Futurama will always be a favorite, it's random, generally witty humor, and a lot more "friendly" than most adult cartoons.

Rick and Morty is good, if on the vulgar side, as is Archer.

I've seen parts of King of the Hill, American Dad, Family Guy, and Bob's Burgers, and I just did not like them.

While I don't watch South Park, they do occasionally seem to have good episodes with some amount of social commentary regarding recent events or trends.

I love BoJack Horseman, but every time I finish an episode I just want to drink. It's hilarious and horribly depressing at the same time.

Used to enjoy Home Movies back when it was on, too.

King of the Hill is the best of them all. I consider it the most "adult" because it relies less on violent/shock/overtly crude humor which is a trademark of most of these other shows, and relies more on a dry style of humor that one has to really actually watch the show to understand. KoTH just seems 'mature', not "Look violence, sex everywhere! We're MATURE!!1111!!11111" that shows like Family Guy are.

Futurama before it returned was exceptional. A great sense of humor. (After it returned, it still remained at a level above Family Guy, but did devolve a bit). South Park is capable of being funny, but also capable of being really, really, really bad for no reason. Family Guy was funny to me when I first watched it back in the early 00s but it devolved into really trashy jokes and violent/shock 'humor' which is just terrible (All I can think of is that one episode in which Quagmire had a cat and the cat met an end to put it very lightly. Absolutely terrible. They took that too far.). I think the point in which I couldn't watch it anymore was just when I saw how mean-spirited the characters were, and for no reason. I stopped watching American Dad at the same time. They're pretty much the same, AD also relies on shock/violent humor at times from what I remember.

I haven't watched the others. I've only seen one episode of Bob's Burgers, but figure I should probably try watching it more.

One I haven't seen mentioned here, is "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law". It's a hilarious spoof involving old Hannah Barbera cartoons.

Alongside that, Aqua Teen Hunger Force is one I've recently gotten into.

Anyone here remember Duckman? Weird as all get out, but still has some good episodes.

Augh, I sometimes accidentally catch the opening to that show as it comes on after Bob's Burgers(also a great show), on the Free-to-Air here. It's not especially bad, but the 90s cartoon aesthetic makes me want to puke.

I'm not a huge fan of 'adult' cartoons which are shocking/offensive for the sake of being shocking/offensive.

It is all about violence and sex nowadays, even to the point where Family Guy just sings it in the theme song.

I liked how The Simpsons, in their early days had really clever well written jokes. And not everything was about trying to be the worst shocking ever, or extremely offensive to get attention.

Due to my high IQ I watch Rick and Morty, but that's about it. I hate all the other non-adult swim shows, though sometimes when I'm really stoned I'll watch clips from family guy.

We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we say.
