and how are you dealing with it? what do you plan to do? personally im just ignoring it and taking this time to hibernate as much as i can lmao.

for those of you that don't know, (which, i doubt it,) a massive blizzard just hit the northeast area. a lotta states are declaring it a state of emergency.

"-- 31 million people are under a blizzard warning, 31 million are under a winter storm warning and 9 million are under a winter weather advisory."

apparently, it's going to continue snowing in some of our areas as well. i guess we can forget about doing anything outside this week.

it's kinda like the weather is trying to make up for the lack of snow this winter season, lol.

I never been in a serious storm, since the mountains mostly take it all for us. But if there is, well no school/work for me.

We were expecting 35cm of snow from this storm...but since we're at the end of what's known as "The Golden Horseshoe" in Southern Ontario, we didn't get any of it really. Got a light sprinkle of  about a centimeter, if that.

Yeah, we got it here in Philly.  We were on the rain/snow line so it was more sleet than anything.  When it was all over, I went out to shovel and it was extremely heavy despite being no more than 5 or 6 inches deep.  But it looked very ominous in the morning hours so my office decided to close for the day, thankfully.  :)

I live in Michigan and we got slammed with a terrible snow storm last night. I woke up this morning and everything was out around the county. Phone, internet, cable, cell towers even electricity in some parts.

Nope. Oklahoma doesn't get winter storms anymore. I was ecstatic just to have five minutes of sleet the other day. It's literally the most winter weather I've seen since I moved here for college. >.>

I'm enjoying the weather being chillier, though. Most of the "winter" has been warm to hot. Sadly, it's going straight back to that before the week's over, and I doubt it'll let up because it's "Spring" in one week. *cries* (It's just not fair to have to shift seasons when... the one you're shifting from didn't really happen)

Michigan is all over the place when it comes to weather. a few weeks ago all the snow was melted and we where in the 50's and then all of a sudden it became blistering cold out and we got a massive snow storm. I think Michigan's erratic weather pattern probably has a lot to do with our great lakes.

Not only that, but it's probably climate change in general too, I think

Hm... Calling that weather erratic is just a very strange concept to me. Where I live, it would be strange if a snowstorm came around when it had been cold the days before. Any time a big winter storm comes around it was in the 60s/70s/80s the day before (well, before recent years, where now it just gets hot and no winter storm happens anymore). Heck, a couple of years ago, an ice storm hit the Western portion of the state within 48 hours of having hitting the 90s.

I'm so jealous of you, living up in Michigan... Where the concept of "snow melting" is even a thing, because you all are so used to having actual winters where the temperatures don't shoot up into the 60s/70s/80s for long stretches of time. Really, I wish I could live there. When the winter is an actual thing, it makes you appreciate the other seasons. I miss the four seasons deal we had back when I was a child. Now it's just summer, summer, summer, and bipolar season where it might get chilly for a month. Maybe.

There is pros and cons to it. I do like having all 4 seasons and each season in Michigan is very beautiful in its own right but the sometimes horrid and bitter cold winters can bring some challenges. Where i live power and communications go down all the time thanks to heavy storms not to mention that you absolutely need a 4wd vehicle if you want to drive the extremely dangerous and icy roads with some degree of safety and not be snowed in all the time. For some reason though the last few years have been pretty lax for Michigan winters however the Winter of 2013 was one of the worst in terms of snow accumulation and cold. The older adults hadn't seen anything so brutal since the 70's.

I'm not in that area myself but where I live, we were plagued with snow for about two months. It was consistent for about five weeks and then it began to melt slightly before more snow came along. This would repeat a couple of times until now where the last remnants of it is melting away.

I'm from the part of New York where most of the snow comes from the Great Lakes (or really just one of them) instead of the Atlantic Ocean. I thought lake-effect snow from one of the great lakes was a lot, I can't imagine how much snow lake-effect from 3 of them would be in Michigan.

I'm southern Adirondacks in Upstate New York and we got 2 feet of snow.  My school that rarely ever cancels actually cancelled two days in a row.  The only thing that sucks about that, is that I'm currently on spring break.  What a joke!
