How can Sega FIX Sonic?

The series doesn't need to be fixed. Every game has its fair share of flaws and because of all the different game style, there's always going to be people who dislike it because there's no consistency. I am a longtime Sonic fan and I personally don't care for the direction the series is going in. Games like Colors and Generations have bare bones content, almost nonexistent storylines, and shallow gameplay. I miss when Sonic games lasted more than 4-5 hours and had a solid amount of postgame content. There's just... nothing anymore. The boost formula was at its best in Unleashed as far as 3D games go, and the Rush series, which is outstanding might I add, were the best boost games period, and still remain the best modern 2D Sonic games.

Another issue is this seemingly endless over reliance on nostalgia. I love the looks of Mania and am glad it's a thing, but previous attempts like Sonic 4 and classic Sonic in Generations and now Forces, seems like a really desperate attempt at appealing to oldschool Sonic fans. I don't mind games like Mania, but do we really need classic Sonic AND modern Sonic in the same game? It's ridiculous. Just add extra playable characters instead. Modern Sonic should be able to stand alone, but if he can't, I fail to see how classic Sonic helps at all. He played terribly in Generations and most likely will in Forces too.

Also, stop trying to be Mario. Sonic Lost World and to a lesser extent, Colors tried way too hard to be Mario Galaxy, and that just doesn't fit Sonic. It's pretty sad that they had to include Yoshi's Island and Legend of Zelda DLC in that game as well. Sonic should sell itself. That's pure desperation.

And Sonic Boom isn't doing the series any favors either. Axe it.

By taking him to an Exotic Animal Veterinarian and paying the fee to have him neutered, just like anyone else. :umad:

Seriously, though... I recall the fun I had beating each level and snagging Chaos Emeralds.

Unfortunately, there's such a high-end demand for more effects, more special stuff, more abilities... just MORE.

The thing is, we might not be able to "fix" Sonic, but we can do our best to try to maintain the original game's simplicity - sometimes it just feels like too many games have SOOOOOOOO much you have to do... the simplicity doesn't mean sacrificing fun, though; the original Portal was a perfect example of a game that was deceptively simple, yet quite entertaining.

Sonic needs a game that can remind us of simple fun without being bogged down with details that are ultimately unnecessary - something that seems to become more and more of a trope for modern games.

Well, Sonic Mania is around the corner, and Sonic Forces is coming out next year. I don't think we'll ever see Sonic truly fixed, but we can get good games.

I personally dont think that the Sonic Franchise has any issues, i never played a Sonic Game that i generally disliked. ( and i played quite a few of the hated games, like Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic R, Sonic Unleashed or Sonic 06 )

I dont think Sonic needs a very critical acclaimed game, the sonic series was never a very senseful or incredible deep and meaningful gaming franchise to me anyway, the Games were just little Fun Platform Games, that are fun to play with. Like Mario. These Games mostly never had a interesting or deep Story line and where just fun Platformers. I dont expect a perfect Game from either of those Franchises, because if i want a really challenging Game, i would choose an Adventure, Thriller or even a Psychologic Horror Game. I dont want to be mentally challenged by playing either Sonic or Mario, i want to play those two franchises for fun and mindless plattforming, to make me forget about the sometimes cruel happenings in real life.

That still doesnt mean i dont enjoy a more serious Sonic Story ( i liked the dark and emotional tone of the Story in Shadow the Hedgehog ), but i dont expect a Sonic Game to be perfect with anything. I dont think the Sonic franchise needs to be fixed, just give me fun mindless plattformers that i can spend my time with and i will be happy playing them. I have heard the Sonic Boom Games are really bad, but i never played them, so i cant say anything about them.

Sega making better Sonic games would help and not rush them. I haven't finished Sonic Mania, but I've enjoyed it so far. I haven't tried Sonic Forces yet. 3D Sonic has never really been my cup of tea. Yeah, yeah, I sound like an old classic Sonic fan. :proud:

Outside of games, I don't know about the new movie. It's live action. I think the Mania Adventures would be better than a live action movie. I may be wrong.

So far Sega seems to be doing okay with the Sonic franchise. Sonic Mania was outstanding, although I currently don't have an opinion on Sonic Forces. Sure, some newer games have been considered mediocre or bad, but there have been very good ones as well.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Just take the time to create more quality games. I don't think there's really much else to it honestly.

This is really what it comes down to in the end. Having all the different ideas and styles would be fine by itself. The problem is that half the time the game releases and it's buggy, slows down, and generally needs a much better development team behind it. Instead they keep passing it off to random no-name developers who clearly don't know what they're doing.

Sega is on Life Support and The Sonic Franchise is slowly withering away from having any relevancy in the distant future. Soon he will join with Alex Kidd and the rest of the 1990s mascots on Heaven. Used to be a Sega fan until the release of Sonic 2006 and Sega’s Shining Force controversy. Nowadays, not a fan of anything in Life nor do I plan to.

So, they should just go back to 16-Bit?

Yeah... well sort of,

16-Bit's where they could start to pick up the pieces of what they once where,

but they should go with making it more of a 16-Bit style, with some modern hints,

because they could bring themselves back,

if they stick with if not 16-Bit, even go over to 32-Bit,

their Arcade games  are decent, their games were decent...

until the X-Box 360/PS3 era,

Thats when everything went to SHIT
