Do you think that's the explanation for why Starlight glimmer won't be in the movie? (spoiler:Mirror magic)

Anyways, at the end of the last EQG special, mirror magic, Starlight glimmer is told by twilight to spend some extra time in the EQG universe as a sort of vacation to learn more about friendship there: Do you think that this will be the canon explanation in universe for why she won't be in the Movie? (In that Storm king will just so happen to attack while starlight is in another dimension to explain why she won't appear in the movie)

Twilight only tells her to stay a couple of days, but it still seems like its going to be the handwave for her absence from this movie.

She will be in the movie but a very brief appearance (like a few lines).

EQG is pretty irrelevant to the movie unless the 8 new characters  appear in human form down the road.

I think the actual reason Starlight won't have much of a role in the movie is because it was being worked on back when she was still a villain, and therefore the writers probably didn't even know she was going to become a major character later on.

I know that's the doylist reason out of universe, but I mean in universe the explanation.

Depends on how the S7 Finale goes, but if she doesn't show up, this will be a plausible explanation for her absence

I'm pretty sure that the Mane6 will go to Seaquestria due to a direct attack towards it instead of a friendship problem

I just can't see Starlight being written out of the movie through the events of an EQG special. The very idea of Twilight sending Starlight to stay in the EQG universe for a while seems to me like something that Twilight would've done before the "graduation" ceremony of the Season 7 premiere. Perhaps it could just be set sometime before then? I'm not sure...

Doesn't make much sense. But would be an explaination. Though, there could be a better one.

I thought the she wouldn't be in the movie as it was being produced long before Starlight was reformed and made a part of the cast.

Make sense. If the leaks are to be believed, the movie was in production as early as 2014 at least. S5 aired shortly afterwards, and I guess they having no idea where to go with Starlight didn't help either  . They now do their stuff with Starlight, but I guess the movie is now too far in production to give her a bigger part. Oh well, the MANE cast is big at it is, no need to overcrowd it

I think the movie will probally be set sometime before season six. Who knows maybe they will make a reference too it somewhere in season seven. And when we actually see the movie it will make sense.

Unless season 8 makes a reference too the movie I doubt we will ever actually know when the movie takes place.

Well we clearly see her in the trailer (although that might be at the end of the movie when the ponies are celebrating. Usually movie trailers have the movie sequence out of order to throw off viewers).

I do like the explanation that she was defeated by Tempest Shadow (Even tho GlimGlam is OP as shizz), showing off how powerful the antagonists of the movie are.

That actually looks like the very begging of the movie. From the trailer I get the impression that Canterlot is throwing some type of big party and that's why Trixie was shooting off fireworks. Thouggh those scenes where all the charcters they meet on their adventure are togther is defintley at the end of the movie.

Starlight's appearance within the trailer was suprising, for me at least. Seeing that the Movie was in the works way before Starlight's reformation and acceptance only signifies her role would only be minor or even a cameo. I'm not sure about the events within the movie concurs directly with Mirror Magic as to explain why Twilight insisted Starlight to remain furthermore in the human world but it seems likely so unless season 7 explains otherwise.
