I found the forums by first getting sucked into MLP, then I went looking for forums related to the show. How you became a fan of My Little Pony I used to an absolute pony hater. That is past tense though. In the now, I'm a bonafide pony lover. That's why I'm here. Hello everypony! I hope to meet some new friends here. Joined a couple of days ago, but just now making my intro. I just now became a brony recently. I'm still in the grips of why I like the show so much. I do know that I like the show altogether, the characters, the plot, and how cute the little pastel ponies are. I've asked others why they like the show so much and they will come up with one of four simple answers; they're cute, they like it simply because of the plot, the morals and the characters. The fifth answer beyond those four that really caught my attention was that they like the show because it conveys love and tolerance and friendship is magic unlike our modern society today. They like ponies because ponies aren't cynical, hateful, monotonous or negative in anyway, but rather loving, kind and peaceful and full of joy. And so people have basically tried to pick up the ponies' torch and show it to the world. These people are sick'n tired of constant BS from the world, whether it be terroism, war, a shooting/bombing or rather a simple closed minded negative fool. I honestly think That people should keep carrying this torch. No harm in showing love and kindness. People have also told me that they were more oriented toward these positive motives when the show first came out. I wish I was a brony when it first came out. I think I've missed a lot of the explosive fandom days. I honestly became a brony because of the kindness of the people. The people here are very nice. The bronies/ponies aren't so much cynical and hateful like the other half of the world. Yeah there might be a rotten apple or two in the pile, but still way less negative folks than the rest of the world. My final question. . . Was the fandom way more active when the show first aired? Hope you enjoy your time here and make some new friends That's a pretty accurate description of why we watch the show, those are all the reasons I love it too. It just makes me happy when I watch it and gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day. As for your final question, I'm not really sure because I've only been a part of the fandom for a couple of years. I hope you have a great time here~ I can definitely say that those are the reasons I watch the show, that's for sure. I'm just full of smiles every time I watch the show, be it a new episode or an old one I'm re-watching for who knows what the number is! For your last question, I wasn't around for the first year, but I did join the herd during season 2, so I have been around for quite a while. I wouldn't say the community has become less active per-say, but it's more like it's settled and has become more of a stable community than a roiling ball of excitement for something brand new like all fandoms are when they first form. We've normalized and ponies are more just another facet of our everyday lives like the other things we're fans of. They've become one with us, rather than something we carry to show off. That's how I see it, anyway, since I still see plenty of new content coming from all corners of the fandom every day. But, that could just be me since I've been very, very deep in the community for a good long time now ever since everyone I've met helped me get through some rough times and I now constantly have pony peeps around me at all times. I'll stop my ramblings now. The point is, welcome to a very loving and accepting community. If you need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to come my way. Jokuc 8,174 June 12, 2017 Share June 12, 2017 I'd say it was at its peak for season 2, everyone was all pony crazy, everyone read eqd, everyone watched the pony videos and there was just a general pony craze all over the internet. People even talked like the ponies using words such as everypony in conversation. It was all love and tolerate wherever you looked. It's not the same anymore at all, but I'm not really participating in much stuff anymore anyway so maybe I'm missing out Anyway welcome. You can be certain that everyone here will love you as a brother and sister and tolerate you for who you are. I became a brony for the fifth reason you described. We do need to pick up the torch and soldier on. The moment you drop the torch, that's when you give up. So don't drop it. The final question you asked: I think that it maybe has lost it's hype slightly since the beginning although I hope not. I personally hope by 2020 that it explodes again. That would be great! I didn't become a brony until 2015, so that is a good question. The fandom does need to be 20% cooler. Let's make this fandom more awesome with each post! Make this fandom great again! If you like love and tolerance {as well as debating and arguments, the spice of life}, you should feel right at home here. As for your question... I actually have to say no. Back around S1 and S2, the fandom was smaller than it is now - a lot smaller - but like most rising fandoms, it was also a lot louder, made that much more so from the fact that it encountered so much resistance from the whole "you don't get to enjoy a show for little girls" crowd, both online and IRL. Over time, the fandom both grew on one side and was gradually accepted - in some case, out of mere resignation - as a thing that exists and won't go away anytime soon. So now, in both the sheer fanbase size and the amount of content being put out, the fandom is orders of magnitude bigger than it was six years ago, it simply ceased to be as strange and thus fascinating a notion as it was - basically accomplishing the goal that it fought so hard for in the outset. 1 Current project: The Olden World audiobook What's to stop you?
