I really feel like we need too see Spike and Twilight when they were younger. Their relationzhip has always given me the impression of them being brother and sister. But I'd still like too see how Shining Armour and their parents reacted too Spike. And how Spike became Twilight's servant. Because as it stands it doesn't seem like he actually has a say in it. In that regard Spike feels like a slave.

I posted this elsewhere originnaly but I'll post it here also:

I've always felt that Spike and Twilight's relationship was a bit weird in the show. Sometimes in the earlier seasons Twilight would act like a mother towards Spike. But for the most part they seem like they have more of a big sister/little brother relationship. A lot of the times Twilight gets annoyed with Spike it feels more like a sister getting annoyed with her little brother. And sometimes it feels like Twilight only values him as a servant. In Spike At Your Service when Spike went too dedicate himself too Applejack Twilight's reaction felt like one less of concern and more of "Slaves stepping out of line again! Time too teach him a lesson!". Though I guess Spike has been treated better in recent seasons.

Technically, they've already done this in the IDW comics in an issue where Twilight had to deal with attending Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns whilst also looking after Spike as though he were her own child. Granted, this was before the decision was made to have the comics have a stronger connection with the show so it's possible for the writers to either expand on what has been done or come up with their own interpretation.

I don't read the comics so I wouldn't know. But show wise their relationship still feels a bit weird. Especially since Spike is still basically Twilight's slave.

Ugh..he's NOT Twilight's slave! I am so sick of that stupid and false idea! He's Twilight #1 assistant! He declared himself that in "Owl's Well That Ends Well" Heck, episodes like Princess Spike and Spike at your Service show him feeling sad when he's not allowed to be of assistance or ignored when he offers to help. That is NOT slavery. Slavery is when you're forced! But he WANTS to help, he LOVES to help. It's what he does best!

And as for the flashback of the two, did you not see the Cutie Mark Chronicles, where the Mane 6 revealed how they got their cutie marks?! It clearly showed how the two met!

Sorry, but I am protective of the little guy.

LMFAO bro he's one of my favorite charcters. I f**king love all of his episodes, even the shitty ones. I even said in the OP that Twilight and Spike seem more like brother and sister than anything else. Owl's Well That Ends Well is one of my favorite Spike episodes. But some of the interactions creep me out.

It isn't until the very end that Twilight calls Spike a friend. It's something like:"You're my number one assistant and friend". Emphasis on the and . Think about their relationship for a second. Spike has been with Twilight his whole life. As far as we can tell he has had no agencey in determining his own future. If he isn't a slave then he's and endentured servant.

That being said he has been treated better more recentley. For instance in All Bottled Up Twilight asked both Starlight and Spike if they wanted too come. In the earlier seasons Spike just would have f**king dissapeared. Litterally no mention of him. Just straight up not f**king there. Also in Flurry Of Emotions at the end Cadence asked where Spike was because they where inviting them too lunch. Again in the earlier seasons Spike wouldn't even have been included.

Also even if we know how Twilight and Spike met it doesn't mean we know how they acted towards eachother. If Twilight raised him by herself, if her parents helped. How here parents felt about Spike, etc. If Spike being Twilight's assistant came about because Twilight wanted too protect Spike I'd be okay with that. For instance if he was a nussiance and Twilight's parents wanted too get rid of him. So she made Spike her asistant so he could stay out of trouble.

Like how in a Wonder Woman comic a few years ago Hephastus had all this guys working for him. And WW thought they where his slaves. So she tried too set them free but they where like:"Uh hey you're f**king amazon culture tosses baby boys in the f**king ocean. So Hephastus trades weapons in exchange for the baby boys. If it wasn't for him we'd be f**king dead." WW was like "Oh shit my bad! My culture's f**king terrible isn't it?". So yeah the mlp equivalent would be good.

Do you think you could tell me the name of the issue?

Sorry, friend.

As for the comic issue, I think it's actually one of the Friends Forever spin-off issues, where they pair up two characters and have them interact with each other. There's never an official title for those issues, other than the names of the characters, so it's simply called Twilight and Spike. It gives one explanation for Spike's given name.
