FemaleIntrovert1995 138 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I'm neutral about Equstria Girls. It caught my attention. I found the movies to be decent. However, I've only watched the first movie and Rainbow Rocks. The other ones didn't interest me. But, I don't hate Equstria Girls either. It's fine and fun, but not my cup of tea. cmarston1 5,959 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I really enjoy the franchise and have been a fan of it since the release of the first one in 2013. My favorite installments would have to be Rainbow Rocks (which I consider to be up there with my favorite episodes of FiM) and Friendship Games. But even then, I have enjoyed all the movies and the three specials. I really hope we can get a TV/Netflix series out of it sometime soon.
Ashen Pathfinder 16,161 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I think it's a decent franchise overall. The first movie was a severe rocky start, but Rainbow Rocks was a treat to watch and Friendship Games was really the cherry on top for me. I still have yet to watch Legend of Everfree and two of the three shorts, but really; it's been overall enjoyable for me. Also helps that Sunset Shimmer is an awesome character. <3 4 Pathfinder I Sojourner I Corsair | Zu'hra I Autumn | Scarlet Willow | Gypsy | Silverthorn | Crystal Whisper | Radiant Historia | And many other OCs~ Matching signatures with mah Bestie MOONLIGHT <

Castle Bleck 19,361 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 As @PathfinderCS said, the first movie was quite rocky (and Mirror Magic was similar, if not even worse), but everything else (especially Rainbow Rocks) has ranged from decent to good. Baalpeor 46 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 At first I didn't like anything, however, I gave it a try and ... I change my opinion. The first movie didn't catch my attention but the others movies ended up liking me a lot! Especially Rainbow Rocks and Frienship Games And I give you the reason @PathfinderCS!
Toon4Thought 274 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 The concept has surprisingly grown on me more and more over time, even if the quality doesn't necessarily increase. Even though the first film was kind of messy in terms of plot, I do find it still had a lot of charm to it with all the nice little touches it added. Just seeing the ponies' personalities get translated to human form and getting a taste on how they'd function in a society that resembles our own is something I actually find very fascinating and is something I always enjoy seeing in each installment. It helps that all the later installments did a far better job at making me engaged in the environment. And of course, Sunset Shimmer is probably one of the single most interesting characters in the entire G4 franchise. In fact, I think they've established a lot of ideas and concepts so well, especially in "Legend of Everfree" onward (I really like them basically asking the question "What if our type of society was suddenly contaminated with foreign magic?"), that I think they could easily make a really solid show out of it. Dare I say, possibly even on par with FiM. The specials weren't perfect or anything, but they've certainly proven that it could work. In a strange way, I am actually kind of more engaged in EqG than FiM as of now. And they can only do so much more with the TV movie format before it becomes a hindrance, especially given all the fascinating opportunities they now have after "Mirror Magic". Oleks 1,993 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I'm not a fan of EG, but I don't mind the franchise as long as nothing from it is directly referenced in the actual FiM series.
CypherHoof 26,483 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I like the EqG concepts - it has grown into its own lore, and is diverging rapidly from core "pony" MLP. Having to keep to the "epic" movie length stories is an issue though; I think it would do well to go episodic so not everything has to end in a rainbow-powered boss battle... 1 ᚾᛖᚹ ᛚᚢᚾᚨ ᚱᛖᛈᚢᛒᛚᛁᚴ - ᚦᛖ ᚠᚢᚾ ᚺᚨᚦ ᛒᛖᛖᚾ ᛞᛟᚢᛒᛚᛖᛞ
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,492 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I enjoyed the first 3 films at the time of their release, but since then, I have developed a seething hatred for Equestria Girls entirely. As a concept, I find it ungodly boring and generic. We go from a fantastical world of magic where anything can happen, to a stupid high school setting with a bit of magic thrown in sometimes. I find that dull, cliche and its existence is purely for a toyline. FiM might be that overall, but it at least isn't so obvious. I have always hated taking the pony characters and making them human, at least when it is not done in the fandom and EqG brings that garbage to life. Whatever life it has.
Starzen 160 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I haven't seen any of it yet so I'm in no position to judge, but as it stands right now it doesn't really appeal to me. Ponies kinda feel like how it's supposed to be, and it's part of what makes these characters unique.

Ponies kinda feel like how it's supposed to be, and it's part of what makes these characters unique. It is interesting to see the mane 6 and their personalities in a different setting though. Pinkie is still VERY Pinkie; SciTwi is interesting in that you can see how Twi would have developed without Celestia pushing her down the path to princess - much more introverted and a loner than pony Twi, but still a bookworm (much like Moondancer, in fact; basically Twi pre-ponyville). RD is still ultra-competitive, but without the power of flight (normally) has to express that in other ways. Flutters is still shy and animal-obsessed, Rarity still a fashion-horse easily distracted by the Shiny, and AJ still the grounded, sensible one. In a lot of ways, there is TOO much magic in EqG. despite it being largely a magic-free setting, the movies suffer from the use of magic in the final boss fights, rather than it being about friendship and the unique strengths of the almost-ponies (that isn't entirely true, and it gets better in the later movies, but they all use magic as a crutch far far too much) - which is one thing I loved about TWABA; TWABA showed us a group of friends struggling though a set of challenges, just like the very first FiM double, but without resorting to the Rainbow Coloured Bitchslap Of Harmony that far too often is the MLP solution to OP Boss fights. 2 ᚾᛖᚹ ᛚᚢᚾᚨ ᚱᛖᛈᚢᛒᛚᛁᚴ - ᚦᛖ ᚠᚢᚾ ᚺᚨᚦ ᛒᛖᛖᚾ ᛞᛟᚢᛒᛚᛖᛞ

"Dance Magic" was my favorite of the three specials specifically because most of what it did were things that you wouldn't have seen the TV movies do, making it stand out so much more. And I really, really hope they're going to announce something like that soon, because the specials have to me proven that one movie a year simply isn't enough anymore given all that's going on now. Lambdadelta 1,462 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 Equestria Girls 1 and Rainbow Rocks are reasons i come to ponies in the first place but after Rainbow Rocks, everything goes downhill from there, i lost my interesting for EQ after Legend of Everfree, and i am getting more invested to the show during S5. If not for Sunset Shimmer, EQG will definately collapse, see the problems? EQG can keep breathing because of ONE SOLELY CHARACTER. The show has a ton of beloved character that you can pick, more characters to invest, heck, even you can watch this show just because of Starlight Glimmer. I dont even talk about lore, world-building stuffs... Three EQG shorts are not really successful to me, they are fun to watch but nothing to discuss about, EQG should just stick to movie format, TV series is not for them. It was briefly mentioned at a Thailand convention. And yet nothing else has been heard about it since, with one cast member even posting a Tweet that acted as if she never heard about it being a thing (yeah, I know about the NDA and all that, but you'd expect a much more straight "I can't tell you" response). But truth be told, most of why I bring that up is specifically because I'm hoping to see a series or another set of specials rather than a fifth movie. There's just too many opportunities for the latter to cover, and I really don't want the crew to blow them. Tao 7,756 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 At first, I was little on the if a side of human ponies and high school mixed in. So after some of the hype went down, I did see the first EG-Girl's and found out I liked it more than I thought! Twilight as a human is just pure gold in her over-drama filled actions like we had seen from the first 3 seasons before she went all princess on us! Spike also was given a lot of good writing and helped a lot in the progress of the story/plot with Twilight. The treat also came in Sunset Shimmer in just seeing her be evil and stuff and getting Twilight to get the human counter part of her friends together! And the music was not too bad! Rainbow Rocks gave us more in the turn around of Shimmer and we got to see more of her personality. Personally, RR made Shimmer into one my fav characters in the whole show pretty fast and we got a good solid bad gals in the Sirens. Even with them, they each got development as characters that let them each stand on their own in scenes and interactions with the side cannons. Once more, we got good music and plots in this 2ed movie and Shimmer just shined in my book. We also had a stressed out Twilight like in the first two seasons we had come to love! I won't hit the other movies as much but I still liked them for the most part of things. Just the Everfree one did kinda hit some low points in both plot and music more than once as a fan for me. It felt a bit too rushed in how they could have handled things, don't get me wrong. It also had a lot of cute points with the girls and Sci-Twi now becoming a "woman" just...meh on that loop they throw at us. Overall I like EG-Girls mostly in a 7/10! Thrond 3,263 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I like the first three movies to varying extents. "Equestria Girls" is messy but has its fun bits, "Rainbow Rocks" is great, and I still admire the ambition of "Friendship Games." Only "Rainbow Rocks" is conventionally good of the lot, but I've enjoyed them all. After that, I don't care much for any of it. I found "Legend of Everfree," "Dance Magic," and "Mirror Magic" to all be varying degrees of redundant and mundane, and I don't find the direction this series is moving in very interesting; "Everfree" is dull, not very ambitious, and kinda messy, whereas the shorts are all just way too simple for their own good. I thought "Movie Magic" had some fun moments, though. Hope they go in that direction in the future, except maybe with more creative or personal storylines. Luminance 2,186 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 All of the EQG movies are pretty good, imo. I think it's worth the amount of time and effort Hasbro had made to branch off of FiM and I like the music in EQG. Sunset Shimmer is pretty great too. Ganondorf8 11,311 July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 If it wasn't for Equestria Girls, I wouldn't be in the fandom right now. As such, you can tell that it means a whole lot to me. In fact, I prefer Equestria Girls over the show itself much of the time because of how it relates to me on a personal level.
