Aside from that, I have some comprehension of German and Russian, a learner's understanding Japanese, a pretty good knowledge of French and English to a native level.

German is my native language and I'm fluent in English. So I can speak two languages. Besides this I also have studied Spanish and a bit Swedish. However, this so long ago and I haven't used it for many year. As a result, I can hardly understand and I speak only very very limited sentences.

I spent three years learning Japanese then dropped it after my trip to Japan had to be cancelled. I was at a low/intermediate level with a decent basic vocabulary and foundation in Kanji. Most of it is gone now from lack of practice and continued learning, but I’m trying to get back into it again. I hate having to re-learn everything I already learned before I can add anything new, but it’s unavoidable. At least this time I know what learning sources work best and which ones I can avoid. The worst part is that I can no longer afford to go to Japan, so I don’t have that motivation anymore, and motivation is the most necessary element to learning a new and difficult language. We’ll see how it goes.

I speak german since it is my native language. My second language is english, but for some reasons, I am better in writing english than speaking it (I guess it is because I have more time to think about what I write instead of what I say).

I also had spanish in school, but I lost a lot of it and only know a few things nowadays.
