What do you think Hasbro is cooking up?

with only 15 more years until the MLP franchise reaches its whopping 50th anniversary, do you guys think Hasbro is planning anything, this early? Surely they would have to go big or go home. For their 25th anniversary, they did quite a lot- some of which included reproducing the beloved g1 ponies, made a special collector's set of g3 ponies, held the 25th anniversary My Little Pony Project, and more! While the franchise is only 35 years old, to date, its never too early to start party planning! What do you expect to see, come Hasbro's My Little Pony 50th anniversary? Do you think you'll still be into pony, in 2032? Do you think Hasbro is starting their party planning ideas this soon?

I didn't know any of that info, so I'll just straight up answer the questions.

Do you think Hasbro is planning anything, this early?

- Not yet, I think the earliest they would plan to do anything (beyond hallway talk) is about 6 years before the milestone.

What do you expect to see?

- Depending on the success of the company and the running gen at the time, I think the least that could happen is a TV crossover special with all gens involved.

Do you think you'll still be into pony in 2032?

- I think I'll only be into pony during the rest of gen 4, but I've already become a fan of it which means I'll at least keep in the loop for news of official or fan related projects during my lifetime, same as I do with Saint Seiya or Chrono Trigger.

Do you think Hasbro is starting their party planning ideas this soon?

- Only if they have a Pinkie Pie on their team.

most don't, as there aren't many g4 exclusive fans who are interested at all in the MLP franchise as a whole, sadly enough. Fewer still, who bother to do their research on other gens and the MLP brand outside of gen 4, in spite of its rich history.

Hallway talk is something, if they're doing anything this soon. Talk gets ideas tossed around. Personally, though, reclaiming trademarks, if they're going to do anything with g1, could take quite a while if legal battles start up- so 15 years would be a nice start to get a jump on. You never know. Plus, they would need to factor in production time and such, new mold designs, if they go that way- and many other things.

A tv crossover would be all kinds of awesome. Digimon and Yugioh did it- I don't see why Hasbro can't. MLP Generations, or something.

i dunno because it's way too soon to care

it's NEVER too soon to care! Who are you kidding, g4 fans are the ones who are speculating about g5 before g4 is even off the air! a 50th anniversary of the franchise, being a major milestone, should be speculated on just as early.

To be honest they might produce a side series to the show that will feature people's OCs. Like people have to submit their OCs to Hasbro and they'll find a way to integrate it into an episode of the side series. Plus the storyline of the episodes ore also partly written by the OC owners if the OC owners choose to assist in writing an episode. Plus the OC owners can even choose to voice their OCs and attend a Hasbro recording studio on a specific date to do the voice recordings for their OCs. Plus the episodes will take place in cannon equestria or a modified version of it. So the series will feature cannon characters plus people's OC will get to interact with the cannon characters to! Anyways this is probably a series that will run for a year and it will give people an opportunity to have their own characters featured in MLP. It's basically going to be a series where people from the fandom are the show runners plus it would be a really nice idea for a 50th anniversary plus the series is probably going to be based on G4 MLP. :)

It's way too early for them to think about the 50th anniversary of MLP--it started in 1983 so it's actually another sixteen years and not fifteen--but I think they might have an idea or two to celebrate the 40th anniversary--forty years is still seen as significant.

But still what would be even better is if they gave everyone from the fandom a chance to collaborate with the show by having their OCs featured in a side series! :)

I don't think that would be wise

Well it actually can work very well if the episodes are well designed and engineered by the show writers based on what people's OCs are and what storyline they suggest. It's just the episodes have to be well engineered to feature as many OCs as possible with the closest storyline to what the fans have requested and it's all so the episodes actually work out really well! :)

Not this early. MLP might not even exist in 15 years. ^_^

No, MLP will be here thoughout the ages (or is that camp everfree? could be getting confused here)

Seriously, the IP rights will still be valuable decades from now. Of less certainty is that Hasbro will still hold them, and many other houses are significantly less fan-friendly.
