Bad episodes this season.

IMO, this has been one of the best, most consistent seasons of the show. But are there any episodes so far that you'd call bad?

i agree with you on the first two, but A Royal Problem was one of this season's highest rated episodes, and i myself loved Fame & Misfortune ^-^

Honest Apple was mostly cringy, with only it's saving grace was Strawberry Sunrise. Not Asking for Trouble was weak also

There arent many bad episodes this season but some epsisodes are really weak, i am glad there are some amazing episodes (8) to make me forget them. For the sake of the topic, i will mention Fluttershy Leans In, Daring Done, Honest Apple and Hard to Say Anything, they are bad episodes that i hope it will fade away in my memory soon, i wish I didn't have to add more episodes to this topic in 5 upcoming next episodes.

Hard to Say Anything is the only one I would call bad. 

The story in Fluttershy Leans In was a little boring, but it wasn't bad. I had issues with editing on Dating Done, but I liked that one too. 

Five episodes I adored. The rest I liked. One I didn't like and gets sentenced to the pits of Tartarus never to see my screen again.

I feel like I am in the minority for liking Hard to Say Anything, I didn't like it at first but after some rewatches I would say I enjoyed it even if it was a little cringy

Anyway, HTSA was pretty rotten even though I don't loathe it like some do, I do think BM + SB are pretty awesome together, so I take that out of it. And Honest Apple was not that great either... otherwise everything else I am loving to being OK with.

The only ones I wasn't a big fan of was Hard To Say Anything, and Honest Apple. Everything else was great so far!

Only seven in still, but the only one I haven't enjoyed much so far was Fluttershy Leans In. Don't have any particular problems with characters or developments in it, but there wasn't much of a narrative or conflict worth speaking of. Wish there had been a little more meat to what was a story about Fluttershy's biggest dream that we'd never heard of before

i kinda liked the Buffalo episode, if nothing else for pinkie's singing driving 2 races to war xD

I don't like mayonnaise. Like I seriously despise it. It makes me want to puke and I have an instant gag reflex. Others I know adore it. I'm cool with the fact they like something I hate. I'd have a lot less friends if I used that as a barometer for how I derive an opinion of a person.

Over a Barrel isn't good, but there are many from that season and beyond much worse than it. Owl's Well, which aired later in the year, is one of the worst in the entire series.

I didn't like the ending for 'Fame and Misfortune' and the overall plot of the episode. Twilight didn't consider the amount of (un-wanted) attention she would get before publishing her diary...

(although, I did the part where that old pony mentioned "Twilight was better without wings" X'D *sighs* now THAT was good...)

 

...and that Rarity jump-scare is something that's gonna haunt me 'til the end of my days O~O...

 

 

...and I'm gonna be brutally honest here: feather bangs in "Hard To Say Anything" was a piece of sh*t. Yes, he can sing, but he was such a d*ck to Big Mac in that episode, trying to flirt with Sugar Belle and yet he doesnt notice the other three ponies that are interested in him...

Heck, if I was in that situation and Sugar-Belle was my girl-friend / mare, I would proceed to beat the sh*t out of Feather Bangs and tell him to go p*ss off, but then again...Hasbro wouldn't approve of this...

 

...and in "Triple Threat", Spike was completely out of character and he was worrying / being over-dramatic over nothing...

(normally, Spike is a pretty chill guy and he's normally the one telling Twilight to calm down...)

 

...and "Not Asking For Trouble" left me confused more than anything...

Prince Rutherford was too stubborn to ask for help and he didnt like any-pony helping him out, yet he liked it when Pinkie pie and her friends helped cleared the snow that was covering his village...

 

...and Rarity was CLEARLY in the wrong in "Honest Apple". AJ knew what she was getting into at the start of the episode (AJ said that she was a little too practical), yet Rarity insisted that she should be a judge for her fashion show...

 

...and Twilight was being completely irresponsible in "A Flurry Of Emotions". She should've known better to say to Shining Armour and Princess Cadnce that she had her whooves full and she needed to take care of the sick foals...

If anything, she should've aksed either Pinkie pie or Fluttershy to handle the situation...

 

...and while RD's parents MIGHT be a little over the top, I didnt like how rude she was to her parents in "Parential Glideance" and SCOOTALOO'S SCREAMING IN THAT EPISODE!!! O_O MY GOD!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING HASBRO!?!? O_O

 

Overall, these are my complaints / nit-picks about Season 7

I have not seen Hard to Say Anything nor Honest Apple so I cannot include those. What I can include however, is Fame and Misfortune and A Royal Problem.

Royal Problem was such a huge disappointment. I long dreamed of a slice of life royal sister bonding episode but instead we got terrible characterizations, a plot that more or less seperated the two for most of it and Starlight being shoved into the main picture for no reason. It was a waste.

Fame and Misfortune was simply pure trash. Does the fandom have problems? Sure, every fandom does. Does that mean you should sacrifice logic and quality to dedicate an entire episode to spitting on the fandom? I don't think so. Most of Equestria apparently became heartless and stupid, the song, while having a good message, felt wedged in, it brought up petty nonsense that the fandom doesn't even bring up anymore and the implication at the end that only the little girls appreciate the show for what it is tops it off. The ending might not actually be about that, but it is hard to not see it. If you want to make fun of the fandom, fine, but make sure your episode doing so isn't a pile of shit first.

Well, since you asked, might as well get some catharsis out of this absurdly overrated season.

• All Bottled Up rehashes character elements of Starlight's I find exasperating, and has Trixie's most irritating characterization yet.
• Fluttershy Leans In features a bland, wholly external conflict which is way too shallow for how seriously the episode takes itself.
• Forever Filly makes Rarity uncharacteristically insensitive and dense, and contrives every element to beat the moral into the audience's skulls.
• Hard to Say Anything expects us to watch characters acting toxic and unpleasant without anything but a moral in return.
• Honest Apple makes Applejack seem uncharacteristically insensitive and features some very dubious plot points.
• Fame and Misfortune is simplistic and mean-spirited, offering little nuance beyond an angry screed and activities it just assumes we find laughable. It also tries too hard to deflect earlier criticisms.
• Daring Done? is filled with noisy, obnoxious expository dialogue, plus it completely neglects everything interesting about its premise and completely wastes Rainbow Dash.

Is it really fair to call something overrated because you don't enjoy it that much?

You say season 2 was your favorite if I recall right, well I won't say it is overrated despite the fact most people like it more than I do.

Totally agree about Honest Apple though, belongs in the same trash bin as Applejacks Day Off, 28 Pranks Later, and the Mysterious Mare do Well.

I don't see what else "overrated" could mean. I don't like it, and everyone else seems very complementary towards it.

I'm just frustrated that I'm not enjoying this season as much as so many other people, honestly. Don't worry about it.

Well I could be wrong, but when I think overrated, I think people blowing things way out of proportion, like Frozen or Steven Universe feels.

Don't worry, we have 4 episodes left until the finale, I guarantee you will love at least 1 of them

That seems like the same thing to me. I perceive the word as subjective, so I try not to use it that often. But since I was already venting, I went with it.

Nothing about this season feels certain at this point. But I have really enjoyed Twilight, so maybe the zeppelin episode will be okay.

I haven't seen all of the episodes yet, only the first 16. I didn't hate any of those, but "Fluttershy Leans In" was definitely the weakest so far. It was essentially a non-event for me, nothing particularly bad but no standout moments either. The plot of the episode was quite predictable and generic. On a positive note, it reflected Fluttershy's development over the series with her assertiveness, but I think other episodes have done that better.
