planning Fractured Futures: World Building OOC

Roughly speaking that sounds about correct. Initially, I concluded the events of the plague occured 50-100 years after the events of the show. Reason being, is that there would need to be time for their society to explode population wise, and advance reasonably in technology to develop that plague. After that, well, it's just up to us how long after it takes place. Initially I figured 100 years, but I could accept a little further. It allows us to remove the population further from any potential survivors of the initial events, and allowing them the cultures we've prescribed to them to be more believable. 

(Well, with the exception of a few who mastered relative immortality that is, but you get the idea)

Yeah like the main six might be alicorns at this point and maybe that would potentially include Starlight and Sunset so they would have immortality to because of being alicorns. Really it's an explanation of how the main six would still be alive and strong during the events of the RP!

Nah, we're holding off on the alicorn thing. So far we're only going with the ones who are confirmed for it. The others are kept around through a different method, a temporal field of sorts developed by Bolt Solutions keeps them kicking and relatively young looking. For their young at heart behavior? I'm still thinking of a solution that would keep them from developing that age related wisdom. 

Also, we haven't really talked about your faction's biological residence all that much. I figured there was like a council of research department heads, but I didn't want to assume much. Any laws or cultural things you'd like to mention before I get to your faction? (Finishing up the merc faction right now)

Yah, I wouldn't worry about exact dates. All that's important is when the plague happened, and when we are now. Also, thanks for the update! That'll do for my character list XP once I get to it that is...

That's totally fine, just to clarify, your character so you can continue in the RP I take it? Since it's your faction, ultimately it's your call! I just took over cus things were looking a little dicie and rough to start... but yah! Drop in whenever you're ready. Maybe describe your character in that RPs OOC so we have a reference if you think it would help or the character might last more than a few posts. 

For the second, was waiting for @WiiGuy2014 so I could possibly get his changeling involved as well, but I haven't been able to get much out of him. Perhaps we could start an OOC for now though... and if I still can't get much from him, we'll proceed with our rp? That sound reasonable?

Well really everyone has a lot of freedom with what they do in Troneon with the condition that they are all closely watched by Techno 24/7 so they can't do anything suspicious or resistant against the city without Techno finding out about it. Like everyone would have their own inventions and projects and I was also thinking that during the time of the RP they would be experimenting and testing aircraft that are powered by plasma jet engines. Basically a type of jet engine that uses extremely high amounts of electricity but they are so powerful to the point they could propel an aircraft up to a speed of 30,000KPH though the jets would get more powerful and efficient over time with further development. Though in the start of the RP the first ever plasma jet aircraft would be in the process of being tested so it would be taken out for daily test flights plus it would be a highly experimental project.

While I question the physics of that project, I get the kinda structure you're talking about. I'm assuming surveillance and mechanized patrols are everywhere in the city? I don't suppose some projects are a little more... clandestine? Mu ha ha ha! I might have a character that would have some things they'd like to experiment with... for the sake of knowledge of course! So... what exactly is Techno's ethical philosophy? Like, what's the end goal of all this? 

Lektra for example want's to reunite the world under bolt solutions. The changelings just want to control all ponies. What's Techno's angle?

Yeah like there would be robotic ponies everywhere in Troneon though maybe there might even be an undercover changeling in Troneon that's trying to sabotage the security of the city! Though Techno just wants to spread the Troneon empire beyond Equestria and into the universe so he wants to migrate it to other worlds once his technology reaches that point!

Yea just random pony number whatever since Lektra is too busy to join right now and needs to work then sleep. Haven't got a name figured out yet. She basically works under Hulk Buster Armor Captain (forgot his name sorry!) in charge of the Magic division of that company, so like his Lieutenant Captain? He leads the whole company and she is under him

Bud, do you have even math? That's way too fast. I converted that to miles and it's about 16800 something mph. More than three times as fast as the fastest jet IRL which travels 5000mph. Mach 6.8. And that's just your starting speed. Please tone it down to something reasonable

Yeah really that's just the current maximum speed of the jets themselves but because it's early testing they would be going a lot slower than that in the beginning of the RP like they would probably be flying no faster than Mach 1.5 at this point. It's just the faster speeds I mentioned would be too much for the current aircraft to handle at this point but it's really just the maximum speed the engines themselves are capable of.

You would basically have the equivalent of instant travel to anywhere if you could have these things travel 30000kph, as that's more than 3 times the fastest plane IRL which is still pretty darn fast. At these speeds it's starting to become unsafe for having people in the plane.

I asked Google Assistant and this is the info I got! 

Yeah plus because the plasma jets operate on a technology similar to the plasma cannons they can operate without any air so they could operate in space. So really the plasma jets would eventually allow space travel to be possible.

We don't have space travel at those speeds yet, so hard to gauge

Yeah like the thing with plasma jets is they could have the potential to enable speed of light travel but that's ad least another country of development away from when the RP is taking place!

Yeah that's something I'll keep in mind! Though maybe at one point they'll do a test that involves the jet going faster than Mach 7 and the jet ends up drifting off into space and out of signal range of the city! So it might also be caused by something going faulty in the jet but they would lose the jet in the process if it shot off into space! It's something they would try to avoid for now but still accidents and faults can always happen! Plus during the tests the jet would be remotely controlled from the city and it would be completely unmanned.

Okay, first of all, I have to know at what times of the day are you active? Because between that quote and this post is usually when I'm asleep.

Second, I'm a little nervous by how big this World Building topic is and having practically no idea what the intended direction this RP is going. @GoldieS, if there are both Good (colorful and healthy) Changelings and Bad (Black and Creepy-looking) Change involved here, both Wills would want to aid the Good Changelings despite Changeling Will still looking like he's part of the bad Changelings.

Even if Unicorn Will didn't exist and he was always a Changeling, his Unicorn appearance could be his cover.

Could you start me off with a few simple suggestions, @GoldieS?

Unfortunately there's no real consistency for my posting times. 

No need to worry about the size and scope of this particular thread, it's mostly extraneous details. 

So, essentially our black shell changelings aren't inherently evil. They more or less want to 'protect' ponies, as they feel it is their duty. Good intentions, bad execution, in other words. The green shells are still around as well, they still have their own hangout just like in the show, just a bit bigger now like all the other locations. 

Your character could start off with the black shells if you'd like, and that way you could decide for yourself if they sound reasonable enough to work along side. The first RP we were thinking to involve changelings, would be a sort of diplomatic meeting between them and New Everfree. Something simple, and more or less a clash of cultures type rp. That was my initial thoughts for your character introduction.

Keep in mind we will not be employing space travel in this RP. It can be an ultimate goal of your character and all but... for the RP itself, let's keep that part in the theoretical realm.

Our posting schedules are extremely variable, so we'll still be waiting on eachother to post in it regardless. We already know the basics of what we need. Changeling and his squad arrive at the city, my character (the commander) asks for an audience with Lektra and a tour of the city. Shenanigans ensue, etc. etc. (Will is one of my retinue, a student of sorts)

Alright, Zephyr (the black shell we're reffering too, Will would be considered a black shell as well due to his black chitin) is a Praetorian, a sort of commander/sorcerer. They're the creative and tactical thinkers of the particular group of changelings we're using here. Zephyr sees a lot of creativity in Will, so he's forcibly assigned the changeling to his pod (squad like element for changelings) because he wants will to become a Praetorian like him, rather than just a reformed changeling... (green shell)

Understandable. Got to have some sort of oversight, though he might be a little hesitant to give her more serious duties since she's brand new to the unit and he knows it. (Knows she's brand knew, not internal affairs)

And Changeling Will looks more-or-less like the Changeling version of Mickey Mouse that is my usual picture of him, right?

As far as I'm aware, though I'm sure Zephyr has criticized him on numerous occasions for his non-traditional appearance.
