Oh I'm not panicked ... at all. The woman heading up this IP is Nicole Dubuc. That's all I need to know to feel confident in any G5 production. As far as the timeline ... Nicole Dubuc's hiring adds more weight to the 2020 release. It was curious that they decided to bring and EP onboard when the show has been running more smoothly absent an EP. Now it makes total sense. Lauren was hired in 2008 for G4 and the show aired in late 2010. 

I think season 8 and 9 will also give us some idea of what to expect quality wise from g5

Portions of Season 8, yes. Quite a bit of it was already well into production when Dubuc was fully onboarded. I'd probably say that Season 8 may bear some of her fingerprints and Season 9 will likely showcase a stronger influence in all facets of the shows narrative and production. I just read the EqD Interview and she is currently involved in everything, including writing character concept information and editing scripts herself. She is going all in on her EP role.

But the S9, G5, etc., stuff? All bets are off.

Hmm, I like some of the designs but there isn't a single row where I like all of the characters. I assume they won't mix or match so I'm not sure about Gen 5, I'll probably give it a chance though.

I may be remembering wrong but I think she said she started at the end of S7s productions, which would mean she did have a decent roll in season 8. 
Season 9 will probably be the true test though you are right.

The concept art of the characters, though, have been developed in stages and styles. Some of the designs featured is absolutely hideous and crowded, but others are okay.

Diversity is easily needed in media, especially ones with children in mind. The question, though, is how far G5 will go to show this diversity. Will they go into lengths and research to respect the cultures, history, and efforts to show progress, or will they tokenize under the guise of "diversity"? PPG 2016 "attempted" to be inclusive while not researching beyond the surface and fumbled at pretty much every turn, especially with removing Miss Bellum from the show and its usage of Bliss. Hopefully, G5 won't head down the the PPG path.

2. The hacker took all the material from Hasbro and posted them on Ponychan, which /mlp/ followed with the news. This same hacker leaked the last few episodes of S7 and the FIM Film.
3. The emails themselves are genuine conversations between people working with Hasbro and/or fellow bronies, some of which detailed the Big Leak or alerted the leak to them.
4. People working on the show were disappointed, dismayed, and very upset that the content was leaked. Sethisto worked with DHX to get the leaked content taken down from YT.

Can you prove they are not? Sorry, but I find absurd that you are being selective in what is fake and what's not. Everything came from the same source, and while it's true that 4chan is a hub for trolls, it's next to impossible these G5 leaks aren't real

I advise against these unfounded optimisms, they always hurt more in the end. MAYBE, G5 won't be finished by 2020 as they are planing, so it MIGHT be possible we'd get one final FiM work before it's inevitable end, but I wouldn't get these hopes high unless they make an official announcement

Several staff members who worked on the show were really freaking upset when the leaks came out, which only adds to their validity. Sneaking in fakes make absolutely zero sense when you already have tons of legitimate work. Again at this point to  argue that they're fake just means that you're in denial

2. Concept art goes through different styles and in different stages. The Mane Eight we see today are very different compared to what they once looked like. Pinkie Pie was originally a white pegasus with a blond mane named Surprise, for example. Some G5 designs were credited specifically.
3. @Prowl is on point here. Several staff members were upset following the leak. If it were fake, they'd ignore or dismiss it.

In short, common sense proves it's all legit. Dismissing it as rumors or throwing around the insane "they-plugged-in-fakes-in-their-server" conspiracy theory is baffling.

I get where your argument is coming from, but as far as I’m aware, these hackers haven’t said why they are doing this, they just are. So, I have to at least consider the possibility that they are just doing it to hurt Hasbro, and that means they could only be releasing material that would have a negative impact. Like discussing how much Applejack should be changed because she doesn’t sell many toys. Or only releasing some of the worst concept art that has already been rejected, but without mentioning that it was rejected. None of the information they’re leaking has to be fake in order for it to be misleading.

These leaks are nowhere near the full picture, so I hope you don’t find it too baffling if I choose to be skeptical of anything these anonymous hackers choose to release.
