Hence the term "my opinion." I just think Nintendo should do more games that are more more mature gamers. Not just games for younger kids.

The average age of someone who plays video games is 34, and 72% of gamers are over the age of 18. Besides, a game doesn't have to be GTA V or Doom to appeal to adults.

Exactly.

And Nintendo is like the Disney of video games, what with them making games that may seem for kids only but CAN have appeal to a whole ranges of ages from young to old, just like Disney does with animated movies.

I only stated my opinions. Nintendo doesn't have such a wide variety of games like Xbox and ps.

I know, yet again, Nintendo doesn't have a wide variety of games. Mostly games for teens and kids. (Mario, splatoon, Zelda, cars, and stuff like that, which is not bad because I enjoy them)

They have a wider variety of games than on Xbox or PS4 though... Most of the games they end up with are shooters and the occasional RPG or sandbox. Frankly, considering thei serious lack of exclusives on PS4 and the Xbox, it's incredibly difficult to even make a credible argument out of this.

 

As for the thread, I'm really amazed by this claim. The Switch has actually been OUTSELLING the Xbox One for a while now, and is actually pretty close to competing with the PS4. In my mind, Nintendo is already ahead of Microsoft, and catching up to Sony, fast enough to potentially beat them by the end of this generation. You also have to note that the Switch and the Wii U were released in the same console generation, so the Wii U's figures could be added here.

Well, I don't think that as much of an issue now that Switch is getting ports of current gen games . I just hope they keep their game on the fun and creative factor they've so pushed aside during Wii

Nintendo focusing on franchises like Mario and Zelda is exactly what is draws me to them, and I am an adult. This notion that being an adult means that that one has to enjoy so-called 'adult' games is just ridiculous. I see absolutely no appeal whatsoever in the bloody murder-filled horror games that Sony and Microsoft always advertise in their presentations. There's nothing 'adult' about those types of games, they're just another type of game that appeals to some adults (and children/teenagers) but not to others.

Nintendo appeals to me right off the bat because they have made their name with OTHER types of games, none of which are really "lame kiddy" games. There's a pretty big line between something that is legitimately kiddy with limited appeal (think a game that is made with the intention of teaching children the alphabet) and a game with universal appeal like Mario and Zelda. I'm sorry that you struggle to find this line. Like others have said, it is bizarre that you are on a MLP forum and have Sonic in your avatar. Seems like you just want to pick and choose what is a "lame kiddy" property and what is not, even though they all sit along the same lines of having more universal appeal and you should know it.
