Will we ever get to see Starswirl teach Twilight?

time is running out. Do you guys think we'll get to see Starswirl teaching Twilight, as he taught the royal sisters, or is it just going to be a one-way teaching street, with Twilight teaching him about friendship and nothing more? Do you guys think we'll see the sisters step down and leave the running of Canterlot in Twilight's hooves, as they return to wherever they came from, before the series ends?

I don't know, Starswirl was always a legend in Equestria's history, but when he returned from limbo, turns out he was a bit of a dick, and Twilight taught him instead of him teaching her. Maybe in future episodes he could teach Twilight about magic, while Twilight could teach Starswirl about Magic.

wouldn't you be 'a bit of a dick' too, if you risked everything just to contain an ancient evil, sacrificing both you and your friends' lives to do so, and come back to have the first thing you hear being some careless dolt undid all your hard work and released hat ancient evil, due to not thinking things through?

Starswirl was actually the one not thinking things through, he said, "Once a villain, always a villian." And Twilight said, "This is all a misunderstanding! If the Pillars knew how you felt, I'm sure they wouldn't have turned their backs on you." This just proves that Starswirl didn't actually understand Stygian, and he just thought banishment was the way to go. Twilight was not careless, just knew friendship better than Starswirl.

Starswirl doesn't really have much to teach Twilight given her already vast experience. If he were to teach her something, it would have to be a complex spell that she's either never be able to master, or knew existed until he told her about it.

Teach her what? Twilight pretty much knows everything. She's pretty much the strongest force on the planet... bar discord. She raised an overpowered protege. She made back ups for the elements of harmony... What could Star swirl even teach someone like that?

I don’t think so... even based on the summaries I’ve read it looks like Twilight is actually teaching him (and the other Pillars) rather than the other way around.

Also, how do you expect someone who’s basically the pony equivalent of William Hartnell’s Doctor to teach others about friendship?

Maybe briefly, but at this point it seems like Twilight already knows a lot of what he would have to teach, and that she might have more to teach him than he has to teach her.

I do not think this is going to happen.

I wouldn't count it out. Given the way she said "He's Starswirl, he can do anything" back in the S7 finale, it sounds like there's a lot he knows that she still doesn't. As to whether it'll actually happen, that's a different question.

I haven't watched Shadow Play, or any other episode where he personally appears.

It's hard to portray a wise master in friendship socialism where the only thing that truly matters about magic are feels. Wise masters are all about reals before feels, and Starswirl, well, he's just an idiot who has no ambition to delve deep into his own art. He, like the rest of the unicorns, is only abusing his own gift to force his values on the rest. Zecora is the closest thing we'll ever get to such a character.
