general media What do you find most unfair about YouTube video removals?

"Whatever you post on the internet stays on the internet for good."

The video is actually usually unlikely to be gone forever if you're popular enough, because by then, someone will have downloaded it. Video creators removing videos they no longer agree with or are no longer proud of the quality of, I typically don't mind unless they're doing what Quinton Reviews has been up to for example, being cowardly and unable to stand by anything he says. A video removal by YouTube for a stupid reason or a false flagger, however, is always unfair and the most unfair thing about it is a violation of free speech and/or free expression. The video thankfully usually gets preserved, but the more insulting aspect of it is how it hurts the content creator to have to constantly be worried of being censored.

That people who break copyright law not only complain about youtube removing their videos due to said copyright infringement but that they then also generally get painted as the victims.

It really depends on the context. If the removal was for an individual who was  breaking rules, then it's probably a reasonable decision. If it was for a person who didn't violate any rules and kept things under control, then I would deem the move as unfair.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

They can remove copyrighted videos, but they can't be bothered to remove clickbait videos for cheap likes and faves? Yeah, I can see YouTube becoming hit with an eventual lawsuit soon. Even videos that don't break rules, much less violate copyright, still get taken down for lulz, because YouTube doesn't seem to care.

  • 1 year later...

How Markiplier or some other hotshot can get into the top 5 trending videos by blaming Youtube for something, and then take it back a minute later (with a comment, but still keep the video up for popularity) when they got in contact with Youtube, because they are Youtube's pets. Unfair.

YouTube definitely protects the big YouTubers who maker them the most money. I can’t believe the things some of them are getting away with.

Friendship isn't always easy. But it's definitely worth fighting for.

And they do completely the opposite thing with channels they don't like. I'm a fan of some big channel that happened not to be liked by YT and YT uses every opportunity to demonetize or strike them without even a hint of solid reason

Has protesting against a copyright strike ever actually worked? :yeahno:

Supposedly, when the strikee is a bigger deal than the striker. But this is just anecdotal evidence - YouTube at the very least will side with whoever brings them more ad revenue.
