13. Frenemies (even worse than Student Counsel!!!)

I've only disliked four episodes so far:

 

1. She's All Yak (I only liked Rarity's song.)
2. Frenemies (I thought this episode was boring.)
3. Student Counsel (I only liked the interactions between Trixie and Starlight Glimmer.)
4. The Last Crusade (I don't care about Scootaloo & the whole episode felt forced, IMO.)

 

I've enjoyed all of the other Season 9 episodes so far, though.

The season is looking like a meh one. Maybe on par with season 6 or a bit worse.

1. The Beginning of The End- one of my favorite episodes of the series 10\10
2. Frenemies- an unusual but amazing episode 10\10
3. The last crusade- finally meeting scoots family, I have been looking for quit a while 10\10
4. Between dark and down- you can't go wrong with a royal sisters episode 9\10
5. Student counsel- an really entertaining episode with on point humor 9\10
6. Sparkal's seven- a very strange but intriguing episode 9\10
7. Common ground- A very mature topic, and a good episode all around 8\10
8. The point of no return- a nice episode with entertaining moments but at times a little boring 7\10
9. Sweet and smoky- episodes in 9-11 places are switchable, its hard to decide which is better since they had different strengths and weaknesses 7\10
10. Going to seed- 7\10
11. She's all yak- 7\10
12. Uprooted- the only episode I disliked this season, it had some nice moments but was mediocre overall 4\10

Overall a great season so far, if the second half is as good as the first it might end up as my favorite season.

3. Between Dark and Dawn (Just an episode about two sisters fighting and reconciling, but it feels like a ruched ending) B+
4. Going to Seed (A detailed depiction of the Apple farm's everyday life) B+
5. Sparkle's Seven (A story that isn't much predictable, but clunky) B+
6. The Last Crusade (An unnecessary addition but weighty finale of the CMC's saga) B
7. Sweet and Smoky (An interesting idea but the characters were weak) B-
8. Common Ground (As if an invalidation of one shipping idea was the sole purpose of the episode) C+
9. Point of No Return (A welcoming Twilight solo episode but boringly done) C-
10. The Beginning of the End (pt.1 and 2) (Mish-mash of knick-knacks) D-
11. She's All Yak (Predictable boring and un-educative) F
12. Uprooted (Focusing on the completely wrong subject of the show and uninteresting execution) F

[Dawn-Sunlight 1,228]

Frenemies: An entertaining episode with relevance to the story and organic character interactions. 100000/100000

The Last Crusade: An episode with a good moral, high stakes, good character work, and a balance of funny and serious moments. 10/10

The Point of No Return: A funny episode that surpassed my expectations and a good moral that a lot of kids need to be taught. Spike actually gets a role he deserves again! 9.99999999999999999999999999999999999/10

Uprooted: Purely bias towards the characters that starred in this episode and the fact that this episode gave us the first Student 6 song. Take this pick with a HUGE grain of salt. 8.5/10

Twilight's Seven: A funny, enjoyable episode that had a surprising twist. Considering the speech Spike gave Twilight, I wasn't expecting him to get the crown. 8/10

Between Dusk and Dawn: Another funny episode, though this episode had flashes to the second plot line that interrupted the more enjoyable first one. 7.5/10

Student Counsel: An episode with character work Starlight really needed. I just like the other episodes better. 7.5/10

The Beginning of the End: This two-parter was interesting, though I don't understand why Sombra was brought back for two episodes, defeated, and then not brought back again by Grogar. As far as setting up for future episodes like Frenemies and the eventual season finale, this was second to none, and Frenemies owes its best episode spot to the setting up that the premier did. The fact that Discord was faking kinda ticks me off for some reason, although thinking about it, it wouldn't have made any sense for that not to have been faked. 7/10

Going to Seed: This is where the episodes get less enjoyable for me. This episode was just meh. Nothing special. And the way Applejack started acting during the middle through the end of the episode is not really like her and undermines why she stopped hunting the Great Seedling in the first place. 6/10

She's All Yak: Ruined by the song and it's unenjoyability for me. The only redeeming factor is that at the end, the moral is good, and I like that Sandbar went to go find and comfort Yona, which gave him more development. Now the only one of the Young 6 who hasn't gotten any episodes would be Ocellus, and that's why she's my least favorite. 4/10

Sweet and Smoky: So much wasted potential. I was so exited for this, but based on Hasbro's latest trend of snapshot redemptions I was pretty much able to guess the rest of the episode after it was revealed that Garble was Smolder's brother. And sure, Garble was totally just acting when he told Spike to smash the phoenix egg. He was totally acting during the whole episode of Gauntlet of Fire in season 6. Yeh, right. Smolder is the only thing in the whole episode that keeps it from being a complete disaster. 2/10

Common Ground: Not entertaining at all. Why was Quibble Pants, someone who isn't even a main character, the one who learned a lesson, and why did Rainbow kind of sort of feel like she was just shoved in there?  The only redeeming factor is that Wind Sprint was adorable and looked exactly how I felt about Quibble Pants throughout the episode.  0.5/10

Please remember that these are only my opinions and they probably should be taken with a grain of salt because I'm horrible at analyzing something, but I try.
