Repairing a Broken Horn

Spinning off from the discussion about wither or not a unicorn can still use magic with a broken horn ...

Can a horn be repaired? I will look into wither rhino horns can be, but something tells me no. Tempest's entire motivation on the surface was getting her horn repaired. Storm King said he was her only chance and promised to do that for her; does that mean Equestria cannot do it? Or does it need immense magic? I am pretty sure there was a background stallion in the show in a hospital with a broken horn. Does it depend on where or how?

What about an alicorn horn? I am going to be writing a story in which an alicorn's horn will be restored or attempted to be restored, so I like all thoughts on it. Unicorns seem to feel their own horn, as Rarity winced when Sweetie Belle swatted her active horn in Ponyville Confidential

I (and I believe a couple other artists I've seen) like the idea of a horn "prosthetic" in the form of a crystal that can channel the magic the same way a horn could. I drew a reformed Sombra like this once:

Is that something you learned from the comics?

I don't know what Cadance was before becoming a princess.

Cadance ascended via the story 'Twilight Story and the Crystal Heart Spell'; she was a lost pegasus raised by Earth ponies, and Celestia turned her into an alicorn and adopted her as a niece

 

I love the prosthetic crystal horn!! I might use the idea of crystal dust or shards in helping to repair the horn, since both pieces of the horn will be available

We have at least two example of unicorn losing horn and regaining it later - first, Discord stealing Twilight's and Rarity's horns. Whether or not it fits the question depends on what exactly Discord did there.

Second example is king Sombra, who lost part of his horn during his failed charge at the weakened barrier surrounding Crystal Empire - and yet he managed to grow it back later.

I also like the idea of prosthetic crystal horn, though I approached it from a bit different angle - Tempest with a 'repaired' horn

Attach a pointy artifact into your head....boom even earth ponies can be magical now...main example...pinkie pie.. either she has an artifact on her head hidden in her hair or she just OP earth pony.... (It is proven she has magic in season8 while other earth ponies have none like back ground pony and pegasi)

She ran away from every pony, yes her friends "turned away" but how accurate will that really be when we don't see them in the same style as the rest of the movie. IDK why, I get she was a child but she never ran to her parents, to her guardians, no anyone. If the comics are canon to the movie- she straight up ran away from someone asking if she was okay.  She ran for years before bothering to stop to get her horn fixed. She jumped the gun and only went way too late in life.

Given they do have spells to control magic, Zecora had a potion to regrow teeth- it would make sense for horns to be repaired. It's probably like other bones breaking- it depends how long ago it was broken, how it was broken, and age and such.

That's the big problem I had with the movie. Unicorns must break their horns as often as they break a leg.

And we saw Rarity getting hers filed at the spa, implying that they grow continually.

I think that's kind of super magic that goes beyond "normal magic".

There's a possibility of it happening, with all the magical artifacts out there, maybe even Starswirl could have known a spell that would fix it.
