why didn't Shining Armor get a song?

He did get a song about him. It's called Big Brother Best Friend Forever

Even though it is sung by Twilight it's still about Shining Armor and his relationship to Twilight Sparkle.

Thorax got a song being sung by Spike and Babs Seed got a song being sung by the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

Not every character has a good singing voice so you shouldn't expect every major and secondary character to sing

To be honest, Shining Armor needed more focus in the show, since he was a great character. I'm not entirely sure why he didn't get a song, but I suppose it's because the writers never thought about it.

Probably because the voice actor couldn't sing? They could have used Vincent Tong though when I think about it

Now that I think about it, did Cadence ever get a solo song? I feel like she only sang in duets (and none of them were with Shining )

The reason would be similar to why he didn't have an episode of this own.

Him having an episode of his own would mess with his image of a "knight in shining armor" and what lesson would he be learning anyway?

He never struck me as very musical. The song about him was the closest I feel we should have gotten. I just feel like it would have been off to have a guard singing randomly.

Probably, they didn't consider him important enough to get one. And they wouldn't be wrong about it, to be honest.
