I really enjoyed both, but the winner is Spyro the dragon for me. I really enjoyed the original games - my favourite is Year of the dragon. I also enjoyed the TLOS trilogy, but it was too dark for me.

Man, this is a really hard decision. Crash Bandicoot 2 was my very first video game next to Secret of Mana for the SNES, but Spyro also had that "collect-o-thon" gameplay that I absolutely got addicted to. ARRRRGH! Tough choice!

 

I'll have to go with Crash Bandicoot, though. I like fast-paced platforming a tad more than exploratory gameplay, but that doesn't mean Spyro is certainly the weaker link. I always compare it to "Banjo-Kazooie on Steroids". Every level/course in that series is drop dead amazing and the challenges are certainly exciting to come across. Plus, who can not like the awesomeness of Hunter? He basically is the Forrest Gump of the characters, taking on many odd jobs and winding up at exactly the right times to help you out.

YOU! YOU! WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE!? (sigh) forget about it, I can't choose. I loved all of the games I was to play from them. AKA, every game of Crash and Spyro in PS1 and PS2. Even though Spyro 2 was the first game I ever played on the PS1, Crash seriously gave me some good times. I enjoyed even the games that so many people complain about! (and honestly, if all people complain about is the style being different and not the very same genre, then that's stupid. I would tell you to play the games and THEN tell you don'r like them, unless you didn't really like adventure/action games). So yeah, sorry, but no matter what, I can't choose. They are both two out of my four childhood gaming heroes (along with Gran Turismo and Tony Hawk), and if I had to choose...yeah, no.

I have no less than 7 copies of Spyro The Dragon, at least 3 of Spyro 2 (And another in Japanese), and at least 3 of Spyro 3. I loved the music, I loved the colours and scenery, I liked how it worked, and I like how it had some sweet graphics for being on the PS1.

 

Never did like the ones after though.

Does ANYPONY HERE like the after games of both Spyro and Crash? I do, and it's REALLY hard to look for people who actually like them (and that are not prejudgemental people who just judge the game because it was from a different genre, and that's unfair) (I haven't played Skylanders though. I have looked at it however, and it looks like fun ).

I was the biggest fanboy back in the day, but we all knew what happened to Crash now, no need to expalin, he became shit, and with all the pain in my heart, I won't pick him, neither Spyro. It breaks my heart what these companies did with my favorite character, I GREW UP WITH HIM! why didn't he stayed with Naughty dog?!!? u_u

 

I'm an ignorant when it comes to Spyro the dragon, only played a few of his demos on the first playstation but never got to fully play any of his games. :/

Crash. Never got into Spryo for some reason. Crash 2 was the first game I got for my PS1. I remember beating 1 2 and 3, then I moved onto twisted metal games.

Crash Bandicoot obviously. I used to play all the games and I still own all the games and my old PS1. I was even thinking about starting to play them again sometime and start over on the memory card. Crash Bandicoot Warped is the best game out of the series.

Definitely Spyro. I loved playing those games when i was little and i have been playing them ever since. I also own The Legend of Spyro games. While i don't think they're bad, i like the original series better.

btw For all ponies that would like to play PS1 games again and still have the CDs (but not working Playstation console): you can always play the games on some PS emulator on PC (my favourite is ePSXe - works perfectly with wine on Linux). And to make it more comfortable, you can mak iso image file of that game and play it with it. (it will also prevent disk scratching)

I know, I mean, trust me, my favorite games ARE the classic ones. As much as I enjoy the other versions of the games (aka, the PS2 period), I still have the classic ones over them. Hell, I wrote a This Day Aria version related to Naughty Dog and Insommiac and their versions of Crash and Spyro because of a thread I made:

but I sadly don't know anything at all

But joking aside, I really DO wished for some people to just ignore the fact they are different genres. If you told me you played it and didn't like it or don't like adventure games, then sure, I understand. But not if because "OHMYGOD WHAT DID SIERRA DO TO THEM!? SDKNFSDNFOSDNOSSDNOSJN!" reason.

To be honest with you this is a (hard) one.... I love both series and I love the game producer naughty dog. But the first spyro was amazing! I'll have to go with the first spyro.

Hmm...I've only owned one game of Sypro in my entire life, but I've managed to complete the game (Year of the Dragon) with 117%

 

I've had a couple of Crash games, but never the PS1 ones..., and the ones I have I never fully completed.

 

I have to say Crash, I like Spyro, but Crash is more my style...plus I'm obsessed with his sister.
