Stardust Live 44 January 17, 2021 Share January 17, 2021 So, you're now a poni. You have the one-time choice of particular race of pony. You can be an Earth, Pegasus or Unicorn pony. Which would you choose, and why? Ground (hehehehe) rules: If you choose Unicorn, you CANNOT use your magic to 'fly'. You may still learn the spell to walk in clouds to hang out with pegasus buddies, but you will need a balloon ride/giant catapult to get up there. You cannot simply make yourself levitate/hover/teleport instantly any distance. Even Twilight couldn't do long-range teleportation. If you choose pegasus, you are assumed to be a standard pegasus with standard wings and speed, based on ability. For the sake of argument, assume that as an Earth pony, you have great strength and natural affinity with animals and plants. You CAN explain that you would likely be X realistically, but you'd want to be Y for reasons (i.e. 'I'd probably be Unicorn, but I'd want to be Earth', or similar) NO ALICORNS. Alicorns are restricted to the Royal Sisters, Cadance, Flurry and Twilight. No other born or ascended pegacorns. No 'other' species that have both abilities, like Changlings, or can use magic without horns, i.e. hippogryphs/sea ponies. Pegasus ponies just have the fight ability, I could probably build some sort of aircraft to fly if I really wanted to. A French Derpy full of Salt 404 January 17, 2021 Share January 17, 2021 (edited) I am split between unicorn (because magic) and earth-pony (because I love animals) But really, Unicorn is best, and I would learn spells about creating momentum and travel fast and make cool jumps, and also spells of regeneration and resistance because of fall damage and the damage cause by speed and air resistance and stuff... In fact last night I dreamt I was flying a biplane and performing barrel rolls. Plus we've seen multiple examples of combining magic and technology. If I could bring in my engineering background, I could likely take that to the next level. You know how she can get obsessed about small details and spiral out of control? A perfectionist boss (or teacher) is not something I would like. "See? You forgot one dot on an i in this 10 page report - sit, 2". Also, I don't think her school (or worse, being a personal student) would all that useful. I mean, if I am going to school to learn something, then I would probably prefer something that can make me better at my job (whatever it would be in Equestria), so I could earn more money or something that could be a fun hobby. Landi 600 January 20, 2021 Share January 20, 2021 I would definitely choose having wings and being a pegasus! First off, flying would be such a fun and useful ability. I could reach higher places more easily, travel at a quicker pace, and just have some fun when I'm bored. Then there's the cloud-walking. Not only would it be soft and comfortable to walk/sleep on clouds, but cloud walking would give you easy access to Cloudsdale and other cloud cities (which would be epic paces to live in, or at least visit). Last, but not least, is the weather manipulation abilities. Whether or not I'd have a weather related job, having this ability would be so cool. Plus, it could come in handy an certain circumstances (Want to hang outside with friends and family, but it's raining? No problem! Just move some clouds out the way and you are golden). As you can see, I would love to be a pegasus in Equestria! Magic is kinda cool, but I would get bored of it easily, and probably just look up at the sky longingly. And while their abilities are pretty useful to Equestria, I just wouldn't want to be an Earth pony.
