If you were a billionaire, what big company would you buy/invest in?

If I were a billionaire, I would consider investing in innovative and socially responsible companies that have a positive impact on the world. This might include companies working on renewable energy, sustainable technologies, healthcare advancements, or initiatives to address pressing global challenges. Making a difference would be a priority in my investment decisions.

Nothing. I would merely live off of the money. No point in investing when you already have more than enough to live off of.

Wouldn't even have to really touch that money since the interest alone would be a few million.

I would invest (or more likely hire someone who knows how to do it better) most of the money in companies that are expected to give me good returns. Also, real estate. Buying property and renting it out is a good way to make money. Right now, the military industry seems profitable. Still, the investments should be distributed across industries so that a failure of a few companies do not result in a huge loss for me.

I don't think I would just buy a company and try to run it (like Musk did with Twitter). I have pretty much no ability to manage a company so that would be a waste of money. If the company was failing, then buying it would just mean I was throwing money away. If the company was profitable, then it would be expensive to buy and if they are doing well right now, then I could just invest some money and get good returns without trying to "fix was was not broken".

OTOH, I would probably spend/waste some of that money supporting heritage railways, rebuilds of steam locomotives (or new builds) etc. If I really had a few billion dollars I would probably just give 100k or whatever to some new build project.

If I were to ever own a company, it would probably be Apple. Simply because it's so engrained in everyone's lives, there would be a great way to expand upon Apple's userbase. I'd have Apple become modular, and have their products become easily upgradeable and user friendly.

I would buy off one of the Las Vegas casino to make it my own. Turned it into the 20-50s jazz themed. Entry around $120 pair or $100 single. To make sure no hoodlums are able to get in. The main attraction will be a nice classy private club VIP member won by ruffles and who is willing to pay thousands. Club themed will change every once a month with there will lots of good variety show and of course lots of good times that will get their money worth.

Investing seems to suggest putting money into a company that someone else runs and taking or losing dividends according to their level of success. But I wouldn’t invest in any company I didn’t have a controlling interest in. Hence I would BUY Disney, fire every executive currently in place, along with every woke moron right down to the janitorial staff and bring back the ideals of Walt Disney himself. I would reinstate all the classic attractions that were removed from the theme parks, bury every movie made since 2010 (and many before that as well), and I’d hire George Lucas to create the Star Wars we should have gotten, instead of the garbage we received under the Disney board room and hired tools. I can’t imagine doing anything more satisfying.

It's gonna take a lot more than a billion to buy Disney.

Very, very true. But considering how fast the company’s stock is plummeting every day, I should be able to pick up a controlling interest for a buck ninety-eight in recyclable cans in another two years or so.  :yay:
