What a joyous occasion of the year. For on the 171st day of this calendar year, we celebrate the winter solstice! The longest night of the year! Oh our waning gibbous will look magnificent in the south and our starts will be visible in the temperate zones for anywhere from 12 to 18 hours! Perhaps all night on the southern pole! And the weather will be nice and cool like an autumn afternoon. 

So what have you all done on our most joyous of nights? Stargazing? Campfires with the inflated corn starch concoction, cocoa plates and the Grammy award winning crackers? Evening strolls and binarycyclyst rides and canine transiting? Perhaps these outer cookery rituals we've heard so much about using charred coals and charred coal related accessories. Please, do share with us our southern brethren and sisters of the night how you've spent this fine evening we've gifted to you!

Or if ye knoweth... you live in the northern hemisphere and partook in dear sister's summer sun celebrations, we suppose you can indulge your festivities here across the longest term of daylight in the year.... if you are into that sort of stuffs we guess."

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we're celebrating the first day of summer, hence the Summer Solstice.

It is for the entire Southern Hemisphere. Granted, if you live near the Equator, it's practically summer every day barring the occasional rainstorm.

Today we are celebrating our local Strawberry Festival, where there will be a market, carnival and parade. Though these will be taking place during daylight hours, I will be thinking fondly of our recent strawberry moon.

@Rainbow Dash, everything is relative… It is both Summer and Winter, right now. 

And from now on I shall say that it's Winter Solstice during both Solstices so I will celebrate @Princess Luna two times instead of one! MwahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
