I LOVE cars!   I grew up close to my Dad... I remember him re-building the 48 Chevy truck... she had a Mustang engine in her, was maroon, had a black flat bed and smoke stack...   WITCH got it in the divorce... odd seeing as she had nothing to do with her...

I miss that truck!

Dad now has a 72 Mustang that he's re-building... he re-built the engine compartment, has new rims/wheels, added a spoiler, swapped the grill out...   He's going to fix up the body and re-paint her... guess he thinks the green color is ugly... I'm the only one in the family that likes it's current color!

Dad built a chopper when I was in middle school, frame up.  I remember helping him a little with building the engine and wiring the bike.  She was a beauty, the tail light/rear fender was 1 of a kind, he built the housing for the cat-eye tail light...   gold frame, purple tank and fenders.  He sold her after the divorce due to back issues & probably money.

He put her away back in 04?  She didn't move for years but I always thought about her... so many memories in that old jeep... then my cousin's husband and Dad started talking again... (my cousin is the witch's niece and the contact between Dad and Ray ceased for a while due to stress the witch caused Dad... funny, Ray and Deb hate her.)   Ray started a jeep club around here... Dad got the old girl fired up and cleaned her up at that moment...  Him and Ray were always good 'motor buddies'... from ATV to Dirt bikes... Ray went with Dad to pick this beast up back in 94?   She is now lifted up, changed to an automatic, bigger engine - so she can go more than 55mph, her tires are 35 inchers, he added black diamond plate to the bottom edge of the Jeep, changed the hood from the old dented mess (from an accident caused by black ice) to a nice black hood, changed the grill and damaged fenders... added a winch .. and now their neighbors want it!  When we had the blizzard the neighbors used the driveway, 1/2 down ours to get to their fields to feed the cattle, they had a big round bale on the Dodge farm truck... and chains and got stuck down in the ditch...  The F250 couldn't get back there in the snow so Mom fired up the Jeep... she made it back there and pulled the big truck up the ditch back onto the driveway.

She is the first vehicle I ever tried to drive... as a manual, back in Grandpa's old bumpy field roads... I had never been behind the wheel before... She died 4 times... but Dad had me stopping and going, starting in odd bumpy areas and trying to shift up and down... and this Jeep was a witch when it came to shifting... she was touchy!   I never got a go at driving her as a manual ever again because she was put away... then switched to automatic to make off-roading easier and safer.

All I've ever owned were beaters... first car was a 92 Tempo, then a 92 Geo Metro, then a 93 Tempo (first car I bought, others were hand-me-downs... my first car died in under a yr of me driving her... she was so beat by my oldest bro!)  Then when the tranny started going out that Tempo got me to the salvage yard, got over 1/2 the money I payed for her back and bought the 93 S10 Dad owned for 100, on the condition when I sell or junk her I give him the tool box back.   That s10 I learned to drive when I totaled the metro...   I had locked up the brakes to avoid hitting a deer at about 50 mph at night... I missed the deer, kept the car on the road... I pulled over then started home after Dave calmed me down on the phone.  I could do 35 mph, and that was pushing it... took over and hr to get home b/c I had to cool my tires at the firehouse 1/2 way home.   Found out a few days later I twisted the frame from the force of locking the brakes up... that's why she yanked hard left when I tried to drive.... Thank god I have car sense because the day after this happened Mom tried to tell me the car was ok to drive to work, I got in it, drove the driveway and back and asked for the F250 keys.   Dad doesn't know how Mom thought it was safe yanking hard left like that.... she got chewed out a bit I think for trying to send me to work with that problem... when Dad got home Saturday he looked at ... (I totaled it Wed Night... he worked in Moline due to a transfer for a while when his plant laid off many workers... he's back in his plant now though)  He had me get in the truck and learn how to drive it within 1/2 an hr of looking at it... he was trying to figure out what to do, what to have me drive until I could buy the 93 Tempo I found that fall... (this happened late spring)

If you don't know how to drive a stick this is how I learned...    He explained how to clutch worked, had me roll down the windows and then slowly let the clutch up until I heard the engine wind down, then told me to slowly apply pressure to the gas and listen to the engine.    Then he had me stop on 1 of the hills in the driveway... (its 1 hill but there's a dip about 6/10'ths the way up the drive then it inclines at a higher degree)   The driveway is gravel and he told me to start off on the hill, try not to spin the tires but don't worry if you do, and to not roll back at all.   After 2 laps up and down the 1/4 mile long driveway he got out and told me to keep doing it, and practice backing up & come get him when I'm comfortable with it.   After a few laps shifting up to 3rd a few times he got in the truck and we went out on the road, of course it had to start raining and that truck, to this day, sucks in the rain.  Mid-way next week I drove this in Dubuque IA, which at the time I almost never drove there b/c I get nervous with so many cars... I didn't kill her once!    I have only killed her twice where it was my fault... she did have an issue where her lights would flash then she would sputter out and die though... that's fixed.  (when that happened even Dad, a mechanic/maintenance worker could keep her going... but would have to re-fire her up when she did die.)

I now own this beast... I swear she hates me, must know I don't like Chevy...   but I still love her b/c she was what I learned to drive manual in...    I don't use her in winter, except just in town due to the bad handling.... 2x4, rear wheel drive... even with sand bags and box full of snow she slides like crazy!   Right now her exhaust is cracked in the front, where it bends down from the engine... of course on a bend.. my typical luck.   She's fun on gravel but don't off road in mud, she gets stuck with no weight in the back.  Dad shook his head about me even attempting using the pasture when I couldn't get up the neighbor's driveway... if it had been more dry I would have been fine.   Told me to next time take the real truck!

Last summer, the Stang

img-1208286-1-20120520134343_zps559b9169.jpg

This was taken right after he added the new tires... taken last yr in the spring?  He wanted to show me how big the jeep was now, I had left the truck there one day for some reason... maybe it was the time he was fixing the master cylinder?   -_-  My truck is a dwarf.

img-1208286-2-291861_203641463023020_100001315020922_478161_1336234_n.jpg

With his jeep club, I guess a line came undone on the rocks... at one point he only had 1 wheel touching the ground... He's giving a ride to someone who wanted to try the hill but his jeep isn't ready for that type of work.

img-1208286-3-fbea0dd7-1796-422a-9a70-9a12634499cc.jpg

He added a step to the side of the jeep, along with the diamond plate... the step is re-movable so it wont get hung-up while off-roading... and is so us "shorties" can get into the jeep easier.    (I only have trouble getting on in Passenger side b/c I have to litteraly jump up and pull self up into it, and I'm jumping off my bad leg... driver side I can easily pull/jump up into.)   Us shorties would be my sister at 5 Ft 1?  Mom who has major health issues including a broken neck, she's around 5ft 2-4?   I'm 5 ft 3 1/4  lol.

93 Ford Tempo... got her for 400... sold her for scrap when tranny started going out for 266...  got 2 yrs out of her when we thought she'd only go 1 yr.... she was a good deal, I put very little money into her.

img-1208286-6-5e954fad-8149-4545-b084-06eab6753d66.jpg

The chopper...    this is at the camp-grounds...   He built her frame up... sold her back to guy he bought frame from... he did everything, with the help of his 2 daughters at times... including painting.

I grew up loving vehicles... I had a Pw50 Yamaha when I was younger and had little to no fear...  I did jumps Dad was shocked I'd try...   He'd usually only take the quad up that one jump, it was so steep and such a big hill!   He thought I was nuts and that I learned well from him seeing as I stuck the landings!   Omg,  Dad has taught me so much... I've helped change the belt on my 93 Tempo, change lights, fix mirrors, change tires, jump a vehicle, check all my fluids...   He's always teaching me something... tricks he's learned... shit I shouldn't do, but do... because I'm like him.

I share his love for NASCAR... used to watch motor-cross as a young child with him...   I can pick out what many cars are when most women around here don't know jack.

Wow...

That's...

Cars...

You have a truck, and I'll most likely get our current 2001 Honda Oddessy when I finish getting my license. She'll be my swag wagon.

What's your dream car, if you have one?

The Odyssey isn't that bad, could be a LOT worse... it's not a Geo Metro... aka the death trap on wheels...    Also with a van like that you can usually haul quite a bit... vans, depending on their engine, tranny and everything, can pull things too.

I am by far a Ford girl... I would love a classic Mustang.  Honestly, 64 1/2 up through 73 would be awesome...  the G2's are okay... though, but prefer the G1's.    Out of the yrs listed, the original 64 1/2 or 69 would be my top picks... we actually rescued a 69... Dad, my sister and I got her home, we did all the work cleaning it up while he figured out how bad of shape she was in... somehow the witch got that in the divorce too... she didn't even want the car when we saved it... Only wanted it to hurt Dad... just like the 48 Chevy.

However, I'm looking to replace the truck with a truck or jeep or suv of some sort right now... preferably something with front wheel drive or 4x4... for our harsh winters...

Also, While it is technically a truck, it isn't a "real" truck, lol.

It's got a V6, but it doesn't have a tow bar. Still, for a car that will be 12 in November of this year, it's 0-60, tested a couple of years ago by my older brother, is still around 10 seconds. Although... we may have to get rid of it soon. :(

We're getting a small car next, like a Honda Fit or a Chevy Spark.

My dream car is this baby:

The Nissan GT-R.

Ooo I could have fun in that!   Hence why Dad won't let me drive the 72 stang... I'm too much like him and would really have some fun driving!

I don't do small cars anymore after the near miss with that deer in the Geo...   in small cars it's hit the deer and get injured real bad or die.... or lock up the brakes and possibly total it that way... in a full size car you stand a better chance.

This is my baby, a 2000 Ford Ranger with 189,000 miles as of this post and it's still going strong.  It's been in my family for 10 years when my dad bought it in 2002.  He gave me the truck in 2010 when I got my license and he bought a 2008 Ford Fusion, and just tonight, we replaced my mom's 2004 Pontiac Montana with a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse.  I plan on getting a job this summer to buy either a 1995-2004 Cadillac DeVille or a 1995-97 Lincoln Town Car, I just can't pick which one I like more.

My grandpa has one of these; '57 Chevy Bel Air. He's told me that it's super rare and that only about 14 are left to known to exist in the world. He restored it himself and, if sold at auction today, he could probably get about $750,000.And when I say restored, I don't mean he found an old rusty one in a junkyard and spruced it up. He basically had the frame and then searched all over the world for original parts which he used to put together and now he has something that looks almost exactly like what you see below. And it runs like a dream too img-1220228-1-biggrin.png

img-469046-1-800px-57_Chevy_BelAir_2_Doo

Ahh dude, that Bel-Air is sick. I wish I had one :( Well at least my cousin has one. Except his is a 53' and he's not done working on it. I wish I had some pictures to show you but I don't. :(

As for other cars, my dad is an Olds man. He had a Cutlass Supreme (78') which got stolen. And that was his favorite car too :( As well as two other Cutlasses (first one was an 84', second was an 86'). He also had a 69' Mustang and an 72' Impala.

I wish he kept the Mustang though, so he could pass it on to me. I asked him about it and he told me that he only owned it for two years in the 80's. <_<  Nowadays, he drives a minivan.

Well at least I'll be able drive soon. :D I'm almost 15, which is one less of 16. Well OK maybe not that soon.

I'm pretty expertise in the field of trucks, motorcycles, and ATVs seeing as I work as an offroad mechanic haha. I have a chevy 1500 soon to get a rough country 6" suspension lift on it and a Yamaha YZF R1 with a custom exhaust.221960_4133141539696_1012237676_n.jpgHow+Reliable+And+What+Problems+Have+2000

My favorite is the Nissan GT-R.

Did you know that when this car was reviewed on top gear Jeremy clarkson had to go to the hospital because of the GT-R was so quick it whiplashed his neck so hard he was out cold. (I think)

Any way this car is friking awesome and cool looking. Best car Nissan has ever made. Best car made ever. It may not be a veyron but it is still the coolest under 1 million dollar car in the world.

LOL. I haven't watched Top Gear in a while but I remember seeing that. Richard was like "A Datsun broke your neck?". And there was the time when Jeremy had a cow on his roof. LOL.

i just want a worn but still driving hot rod from the 30s with aluminum seats, a supercharged flathead engine with open exhaust pipes that puke fire when you rev it hard, no fenders, no interior, cloth rag top, big fuckin wide tires in the back with skinnies in the front, a scary front beam suspension with drum brakes, and a shifter connected to a 4 speed transmission with 3 pedals.

everything you need, nothing you dont. built to go, not to stop. a daily driven hot rod, not a show car. built to make me and other enthusiasts smile, not to win shows. drive it hard till it breaks, then fix it again. a lil home grown hottie thats roasts tires and makes environmentalists cry. honestly, if the car doesnt scare me occasionally, then i want nothing to do with it.

Yea so I just talked to my dad. He told me that his first car was a 1969 Mustang in blue. Then he told me that he bought it for $400. At first I was like "FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A 69' MUSTANG?" Then he told me that $400 was a lot back in the day (even for a used car) and I was like "Oh, okay". After that, he said that the it was the car that he learned how to drive in and it being a powerfull car and all. He crashed it from the back and he could afford to repair it so he sold it (he had no other choice). It ran well, it just had a fender bender.  :(  Man, if only my dad was a better driver back then...

I'm assuming it looked a lot like this (found this on google):

I do like a lot of cars. I really like cars a lot.

That's the main reason why I started watching Top Gear.

But well, if I ever wanted to have a dream car, it would be this:

2002 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

HhS8Jqr.jpg

Totally like its appearance. I say it looks better than the 2012 Vanquish.

Most of the cars I like are usually British. I rarely like Japanese cars, with a few exceptions like the Lexus IS300 and the Toyota Corolla AE86.

My new dream car, the SCG 003c.  Assuming SCG doesn't fuck it up, it's gonna knock everyone on their asses, both on the road and the track.

C7CorvetteStingray.jpg

The slightly affordable-ish dream car, a C7 Corvette. Some people don't like the taillights how they "make it look like a Camaro". They can screw off. I fucking love the C7! The Corvette truly is a great car now.

And my 3rd dream car (the obtainable one), the Fiat 500 Abarth. Yes, the nearest dealer is 50 miles away, and there is no guarantee that it would work for me everyday. But come on, it's a 500 Abarth!

What's the specs on that 57? Does that one have the 327 v8 and the factory Rochester fuel Injection and 4 speed Manual? Now that would be a rare Chevy, the 57 chevy in itself is rather common, yet still very desirable. Still not cheap.

Myself, Im a big Mopar guy , one of my favourites being the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst, big tank of a car, but its got power! Big hurst tuned 440 between the rails! Also, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona.(Most of the 300 hursts wernt convertibles though)post-21323-0-09432400-1425368106_thumb.jpg
