My Drawings (WARING: Very nooby!)

So I decided to finally post something here... Pretty much to see what people thinks of what little I've done done so far~

 

A recolour of Rainbow Dash, apparently called Holly Dash... She apparently doesn't have wings, but oh well... Forgot that part. Made using outlines and stuff~

 

A crazy idea/request a friend of mine wanted to see... A hybrid between Rainbow Dash and Spyro. Done pretty much in the same way as Holly Dash, but was more complicated as I needed multiple references.

 

So what do ya think?

Thanks~I've thought about using masks for that stuff (Actually not too long ago since I found out what a mask in this context is...)

I call it nooby, because they're two of my first drawings in YEARS, so I have very little experience~

Also, they're both partially outlined from a base (I had to look for a decent base(es), but t'was not much work...)~

 

This is actually pretty good! Especially the shading. I wish I could shade like that.

 

The shading's way easier than it looks... If you ask me (and probably most other artists...), that is. Just need to apply them to the right places and try to not overdo it.

Thanks~ I used Paint Tool SAI... The stabilizer in it helps a lot when you're not all that steady with your hands!

 

I looked into tutorials and stuff, that's just the one thing I can't do.

 

Well, what I did was that for shades, I picked the colour where I wanted the shade, dropped it to a tiny bit darker colour, and then just drew them on (with some transparency, of course, so that it's not entirely solid). Same with the white reflections, but only with white~

 

These aren't nooby at all, their awesome!

My critique:

First Picture:

This is a recolor? Honestly looks nothing like Rainbow Dash's head.

The green color just doesn't mix in correctly with the purple.

If you notice on Rainbow Dash, her coat color is not in her mane. But in this picture, the purple in the tail and mane is almost exactly like it, making it look very odd.

At some point some of the lines get very squigly, you may want to straighten it out. (I.E. The hooves and the chin.)

 

Basic design with adequate colors.

Second Picture:

Very, very, very, very original.

Tbhe body type for the legs are way off however, at some points straight and bumpy, others rounded and loopy. You might want to fix that.

The flank is too small, and the curve at the top isn't at the right angle.

Dat face. I can't say much more than that.

The hair would go around the horn, not compltely behind it. That is why when you wear a hat, your hair goes under it.

The wings look very nice.

 

Words cannot express how much I love this picture. Fix the anatomy, and you can raise this to a full score.
