I love how Applejack hardly changed, but that's how I like it!

 

As for the changes that are, It's already been mentioned, but they just seem to fit in a lot better with the rest of the show/entire style. The colours are less neutral now and work better in contrast with each other.

 

They knew what they were doing for sure and I think it was for the best.

But hey, that's what concept art is for, to get criticized and adjusted where needed (or scrapped all together...) ... and well I just enjoy watching that kind of art

Pinkie Pie-Surprise: I like Surprise better. Also, shes a pegasus! Cant you imagine pinkie pies playful personality as a pegasus? her flying around with Rainbow dash and doing loops in the air?

 

it would just not be neccesary; Pinkie Pie is so mobile and bouncy as a Earth Pony, anyway; plus, she invents her own flying devices in her spare time because she's a genius that's brighter than Twilight is, but i digress. also, that would mean the show would have had 3 pegasi, 2 unicorns, and 1 earth pony. making her a Earth Pony balances everything out smooth and nicely, imo.

I think AJ was hardly changed throughout the MLP franchise (she's probably the closest to an "O.G. Pony"), I saw these as well, pretty cool to see the humble beginnings of something. Pinkie looks like she collected all 7 Chaos Emeralds. Now if only the TM1 concept art was leaked...

Just doesn't have the same ring to it. Meh. I for one am glad the names/designs had to be changed. It definitely worked out for the best!

 

Total agreement. This is why I love Pinkie Pie:she's an earth pony who seems more magic. If Fluttershy lacked wings, the world would crumble because she just wouldn't be the perfect fit.

Uh, those wouldn't be their names. They would be Twilight, Sparkler, Posey, Firefly, Applejack, and Surprise. The names can't be used in a case against them, cause the names were changed along with the art.

Didn't even notice this, my bad, But still i really dont like the concepts, half of the changes would ruin the show, and or make it hard on the eyes. Surpise just doesn't appeal to me, and she couldn;t be a peagesus because a lot of the pasts in the show rely on fluttershy and rainbowsash having wings. and even so if Posey had the same personality as Fluttershy her not having wings really wouldn't fit.

 

TL;DR: i dont like them anyway, they would ruin the show.

I prefer the current colors more then the concept colors, especially when it comes to rainbow dash. However I think that if suprise had got the PP colors and wings, it deffinetly could have been intresting.

Growing up with a younger sister who was in love with G3 ponies I must say the new ones are much better. I like the more modern design and style of the ponies. Which in my opinion is one of the many reasons there are so many Bronies out there. At lest for me the new design and way of drawing the ponies changes what the show is to many older viewers they are cute but also more modern. Therefore for me at lest the G4 will always be the best for design and artwork of the ponies themselves.

As a southerner, I must say, the correct southern expression is "bless her heart", though usually you only say that if you're about to say something negative about the person. It's a way of mentioning someone's flaws without necessarily putting a negative light on them lol.

 

I like the old and new. For some reason though, the old seems to look weird in the actual show. It just dosent fit it with the other colors. But out of old and new

Rarity-Glory (is her name glory? Cant remember): Rarity! Her white fur makes her look more proper and clean. I dont like the blue

 

Twilight-Twilight sparkle: I like them both, but I think I like TW better. Just, the white mane and pink body dont really fit her personallty to me

 

Firefly-Rainbowdash: Rainbow dash. Bright Pink and blue just dont look good together, also, pink? For RD?

 

Fluttershy-Posy: The same.

 

I agree a whole bunch on all of those. Though honestly, I might have been thrown off by Twilight's different colors and never become a brony if she wasn't purple. Something about the purple, being a dark color, just seems more realistic and fits her personality better. Realistic as in, she's not a shallow happy Mary Sue go-lucky character, like many of us thought all the characters were before becoming bronies/pegasisters. Instead she's the analytical type who's also somewhat cynical (like all her cringing at the other characters saying "friend". Honestly, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that. The fact that the main character realized how cheesy the other characters were got me to keep watching until I fell in love).

 

She makes me think of Raven from Teen Titans - who also had Telekinesis and was voiced by Tara strong, and who also had a purple color theme, though she was even "darker" than Twi.

 

 

And, actually, the reason I quoted you was to mention Surprise. It's actually kinda sad, no, really sad that we didn't get Surprise. I mean, with all her energy, Pinkie would LOVE flying. She even seems to try to fly as an Earth pony - how she hops, trampolines, jumps - but most of all, Rainbow Dash REALLY needs a pegasus friend like Pinkie. Someone to fly with, to do tricks and races with, to generally have a blast in the air with. It's really, really sad to me that she doesn't have Surprise as a friend.

 

And not to mention, Pinkie is perfect as a Pegasus!

 

Though I do like the contrast and Irony of Fluttershy being a pegasus. But honestly... I'd be eager to see what the series would be like if Fluttershy was an Earth pony, and Pinkie was the pegasus.

It would be funny to name Rarity "Glory" since in many cultures glory is also an imagery term that applies to an object's weight or displacement. A Rock has more "glory" than a piece of paper, and therefore will make a bigger splash in water, for example.
