I appear to be one heartless bastard. I've read basically all the stories you suggested plus some other ones people have suggested and nothing, not one tear had been shed yet. Some tear jerked me a bit, but nothing really to report about.

And I thought A Precious Rainbow was more happy, not sad.. I mean, for one, Applejack saved Dashie and 2, dash got over it pretty quickly, made a fast recovery, and found something to replace flying...

A Precious Rainbow is an alternate ending to Cupcakes where Applejack saves Rainbow Dash just in time to save her, but accidentally kills Pinkie in the process. Rainbow survives, but is too late to have her wings reattached, so she has to live with the physical and mental pain that her friend she though she could trust took the one thing she loves the most.

 

I actually didn't think it was all that sad, Rainbow seems to get over it pretty quick, but I won't spoil anything else. But there is a happy ending.

 

It's a really good story, I recommend reading it.

There's a specific one, a Appledash fic that I wanted to mention, yet the name seems to keep slipping my mind. It's a very sad fiction, the one I have shed most tears for in this fandom. I'm sorry that the name seems to have dissappeared from my memory.

Maneless, Skinless, Hoofless, Fearless: This story was pretty nice. Probably my favorite out of the 3.

 

A Beautiful Heart: Hated this one. Not sad at all

 

Hormones: This one actually scared me. It went from a clopfic to a horror to a attempt for a sad ending. This story bothered me a lot in a way that frightened me, not made me sad.

If you really want industrial-strength sadness, Twenty Minutes by Bad Horse. But I'm warning you. It's SAD. A little sweet, but mostly SAD SAD SAD. Not the same kind of sad as my little dashie. More likely to make you drink than cry.

I think MLD is sad only for the sad brony who relates with the guy of the story.

 

It's a bit of wish of fulfillment and self-insert from the reader.
