movies/tv Scariest horror film you have ever seen

The scariest movie I ever saw is still the first "Hellraiser" movie. I only saw it once, and passed on watching any of the sequels. It scared the crap out of me! I was a bit too young to be watching such a movie, but I still don't want to see it again. This is coming from someone who watched all the Saw movies, and a lot of different zombie films too! Oh, and the ending of the original version of "The Fly" gave me horrible nightmares. My brother got in trouble for letting me watch it while he was baby-sitting me.

LOL!

I've watched "The Fly" again, but low tech special effects notwithstanding, the end still creeps me out!

Well most scary movies don't scare me because the movie is so predictable and the characters are stupid and die easily but the "scariest" is The Excorist

The Ring.

Oh, the nightmares that ensued after I saw that movie. Good lord. ^_^

But because of me and my curiosity of fear, I watched the second movie as well.

I know way too much about the movies..

Ugh. I can't look at Samara's face without getting that little sense of dread. Even seeing "The Ring" on the tv guide gives me shivers.

Don't watch it, it's awful. I watched it over 2 years ago and it still scares the hell out of me sometimes.

The Thing does it for me. Both the original and the remake were just plain scary. The remake is actually a prequel, and leads into the original 1982 film of the same title. watch them both back and back and try sleeping that night.

I've never seen either of these following films, but given their reputations, I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned either of them:

A Serbian Film

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Serbian_Film

The Human Centipede films, particularly the second one

A Serbian Film is even banned in several countries.

Might as well add Cannibal Holocaust to the list as well, since it was one of the forerunners to the whole "shock cinema" genre. Saw it in high school and it stayed with me for a long time. some of those scenes.....yesh.

The Blair Witch project has to be one of the scariest for me. The concept is my favorite type of horror. The noises and the atmosphere still send chills down my back.

img-1211418-1-220px-Blair_Witch_Project.

I have seen this movie two times. I actually watched it just a few days ago. And I agree with you. I love this type of horror when it's filmed this way. That is a reason why I love the [rec] movies so much. Though I am a bit disappointed with this movie because I thought (and still think so) that it was quite boring.

Hahaha oh. Guys guys guys.

This is the thread for "scariest" movies. Not the most disturbing ones.

@hawk

Well first off, don't post movies and say they're something you've heard they are. I can with confidence say that I have seen every horror movie you guys in this thread will ever mention. I watch horrors every day and have seen everything you can imagine.

So none of those two movies are scary at all.

However if we are going to talk disturbing movies there is another thread for that but I just want to say some things because I see way too often noobs within the horror genre that says the same "oohhh this movie and oooouughhh this movie is the scariest or most disturbing or goriest movie ever nothing is worse!!!"

The Human Centipede isn't even a super disturbing movie. People are talking about it like if it was the most disturbing movie ever but they don't know shit. T Human Centipede has pretty much the max disturbing limit that makes it allowed to be viewed at cinemas. (Usually I laugh when people mention this movie on their list of disturbing movies because it's like number 200 on mine which means it doesn't even make it to the top 100 most disturbing)

A Serbian Film or Srpski Film as it's original name is, is not scary at all either. It was made to be the world's most disturbing movie. Now I have to say the movie IS very disturbing. It has everything from killing to rape, necrophilia, and child sexual abuse. (It even has a

baby rape scene

) I warn everyone that is sensitive to NOT watch this movie. Also the movie is pretty much a porno since it's about a guy who is a pornstar. (Yeah there are scenes in this movie that is straight up porn). Though the movie is actually very well made and pretty good if you like to watch extreme movies. The soundtrack is awesome too:

However, there are a few movies that is actually far more disturbing than A Serbian Film such as "August Underground's Mordum" for example. About the banning of A Serbian Film; there are a lot of movies that has been banned so that isn't something that makes the movie any more extreme than others. (Though it IS more extreme than the most movies, but again there are always worse ones).

@sks_burns

Ah! Cannibal Holocaust is a classic movie. The thing that people reacts about in this movie is that every animal killed in the movie were actually killed for real. The soundtrack for this movie is awesome too C:

real life is scarier then anything hollywood can produce. Serial killers, school shootings, cannibals, hostile countries at war, etc. So, i dont limit the horror genre to ghosts, ghoals, monsters, or anything more traditional.

what terrifies you more? running for your life while cannibals chase you, or some supernatural monster? one can actually happen, so the choice is yours.

I hesitate to recommend A Serbian Film, but if you are at all interested in those kinds of deeply disturbing movies, I'd say give it a watch.  It's incredibly dark and disturbing and full of the most effed up imagery I've ever seen.  I love making my friends watch it to see how far they'll get.  I've had a few make it all the way through, then forever question my sanity as well as their own.

The Human Centipede is actually a pretty tame horror movie.  It's not a bad movie, it's interesting and I enjoyed it, but not nearly as graphic as it seems to have a reputation for being.

HOWEVER!  Human Centipede 2 is all kinds of fucked up.  I've seen it twice, and I have no desire to watch it again.  Not because it's bad.  It's actually a pretty good horror movie.  It's just so messed up and visually horrifying that I don't really want to subject myself to it a third time.  I'm not really sure why, but something about this movie disturbs me more than A Serbian Film.

We are human, after all.  Flesh uncovered, after all.

I mentioned pretty much the same as you did in my last post

So yeah I agree about The Human Centipede. Though "A Serbian Film" is not a scary movie.

Probably IT by stephen king that movie was freaking creepy as heck. That movie alone is why I do not like clowns anymore and I refuse to watch that movie now o.O!

Well IT is very good :3 Though I think not enough things happens to build up something that scares.. But that's just me.

So you like clowns huh?

Check out Clownhouse and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

i know of "films" that are fucked up enough that i dont dare discuss them here. Alot of them arent scary in nature, just beyond disgusting.

One of the scary movies that i really like is The Evil Dead. Its campy, but theres plenty of good scares and an overall creepy atmosphere. Honorable mentions include Jeepers Creepers, and an early Spielberg film called Duel.

exorcist, (the original not the newer ones) is the scariest movie I've ever seen.  Just the fact that it happened in her own bedroom where were all supposed to feel safe.  Also Demonic possession is something that scares me anyways.

Halloween is an excellent movie! Very nice choice, if I do say so myself.

My favorite horror movie is definitely John Carpenter's The Thing. One of the best Sci-Fi Horror movies ever crafted in my opinion. The effects are top notch, the horror is just right, and I love the ambiguous ending and the excellent acting. Best scene in the movie is definitely the test scene.

I absolutey love all of Carpenter's work. The effects were insanely incredible in The Thing. Although my favorite director has to be Sam Raimi. The Evil Dead is incredible; and he remake looks amazing. So cool he remakes his own work. laugh.png

You know, I was extremely skeptical of this new Evil Dead that's coming out, but after seeing the trailers for it and learning that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell were involved, I now think that this remake is going to be extremely awesome. I think it's awesome that Raimi is going back to remake the movie, and it looks more terrifying than ever!

And you're right, Raimi is cool.

Too cool for mule, even.

Eh, I used to be a huge fan of horror films, though they kind of lost their charm with me

I remember when I was a big fan of them I used to love The Ring and Insidious

As well as The Exorcist, but yeah I don't watch them very often anymore

I kind of understand that, especially since there hasn't been a huge amount of truly good ones recently.

I enjoyed Insidious, even the parts I thought were a tad cheesy. And I do like The Ring, but I actually found Rings, which is a sort of in-between mini fifteen minute movie that takes place in between The Ring and The Ring Two, to be better than both main movies.

Frankenweenie, ParaNorman, The Corpse Bride, Hotel Transylvania

Not horror movies. At all. :/

My favorite horror movie would have to be Sinister. That movie is freakin' terrifying. It was the first horror movie I've ever seen that genuinely scared me.
