Yes, I have a tenancy to like fire Pokemon... but before white I had a dream about Superior so I am a bit biased in Unova. I think otherwise I would prefer Oshowatt.

Anyway, my favorite starters are always the Water ones, as they are the ones I pick every time. My favorite starter altogether is Piplup, though.

Charmander. This tiny lizard dude learns Ember at a very early level, learns metal claw at level 13 (wipes out Brock pretty easily),

Funfact: Charmander can only lean Metal Claw in Firered/Leafgreen. In every other game before and after, Charmander is no longer able to learn the move.

 

Anyway, onto mine:

 

Gen I/III: Squirtle- I like Squirtle, it's the balance of awesome and adorable. And not to mention that when it evolves, it turns into a Pokemon with freakin' cannons sticking out it's shell, which is pretty awesome!

 

Gen II/IV: Totodile- It's Totoadile, and it's an awesome crocodile pokemon! It also used to be my favorite pokemon, but then the Sandile family appeared one day and said "NOPE".

 

Gen III: Mudkip- I tend to debate this one with Treecko, but in the end I chose Mudkip. With great FE stats, a meme, one weakness, and just an awesome pokemon, whats not to like.

 

Gen IV: Piplup- A Water Steel Pokemon. All my yes. Besides, Empoleon looks awesome as heck.

 

And because I honestly don't see any legitimate reason not to include fifth gen,

 

Gen V: Snivy- While I usually chose water pokemon, and Oshawott is pretty awesome, I ended going with Snivy cause snakes are cool and Snivy is the definition of cool.

Charmander and Squirtle in the first generation, most of the time. Cyndaquil in G2, it was my favorite Pokémon for a while actually XD

 

Treecko's line is my favorite Pokémon's, so I choose him pretty much always. I like all the Sinnoh starters, Piplup because Dawn's Piplup is the definition of badass, Turtwig and Chimchar because they are just cool :/

Gen V: Snivy

 

Most of my favorites are picked from appearance and nature factors but of course, Grass being my favorite type of all types, Snivy wins over all starters. =)

Here we are:

• Kanto: Charmander - powerhouse and a bit of a challenge early on, the original pseudo-dragon and one of the coolest looking Pokemon of all time.
• Johto: Cyndaquil- I really didn't like Chikorita too much, and Totodile seems too much like Charmander for me.
• Hoenn: Treecko- Whether it's the risky Physical Sweeper, or the classic Special Sweeper, this Pokemon is awesome when fully evolved and is the only grass starter to not feature a plant-related appendage (before evolution that is). Not to mention it was my first Pokemon!
• Sinnoh: Piplup- I hated Turtwig and Chimchar never was appealing to me (although Infernape is awesome), so Piplup it is. It's not too bad either, a unique typing makes for fun gameplay and it's high Special Attack gives it some nice power. Not to mention I love penguins and Napoleon's conquests have always fascinated me.

But, why no Gen 5? Gen 5 was awesome!

Unova......uhhhh.....they were terrible. They are obviously running out of ideas for new pokemon. But My favorite would have to be Snivvy. When I got the game I chose Tepig because he was fire type, but I hate the evolution stages. So Snivvy takes the Gold in that one.

 

I've never been a big fan of Water type pokemon. Kyogre is only good one, and he doesn't really count since he's legendary

Well, my list of favorite is as follows:

Despite my favorites, my friends and I ALWAYS have a few sleepover nights where we all bring the newest Pokemon game and battle eachother, either when we are all low levels or are high levels (60+). Alot of my friends always pick water so ever since Saphire and up (and my playthoughs of previous gens) I have always picked grass. One comes to love them. They are usually really good for tanking except for Treeko, his evolutions get REALLY fast and get majot criticals. My favorite grass starter would either be Turtwig or Chikorita (his evolution is epic).

 

Oh I always pick grass. Even before I was intelligent enough to care about stats, I always chose grass and forever will. Grass pkmanz are best pony.
