Me? NLR. When has Celestia ever helped. Discord? she did nothing but send letters. King Sombra? She observed, because that helps. Changeling Invasion? Gets pwned (see what i did there?) by Chrysaliss. At least Luna stopped Scootaloo from going insane! And as Nightmare Moon Pwned Celestia.

So yeah, since i am a massive anarchist, WAR!!!!!

Neutral, because I think the entire idea is nonsensical.

Yes, I understand it's more of a joke than a serious allegiance, but I don't think there's anything wrong with their co-rule. Celestia said that she wanted to rule alongside Luna in the pilot after all. We've seen them both controlling their respective space bodies and both seem to command equal respect, why divide a people along an idealogical line that doesn't even exist?

Yeah, change or add to this!

ALL HAIL THE HEAVENLY DI-ARCHY!

Unity is for the weak. I change my vote. Only the strong shall survive the:

DISCORDIAN ANARCHY!!!

after all Discord does rightfully own Equestria, Luna and Celestia took it from him without asking!! How rude.

King Sombra is the rightful owner of the Crystal Empire, after all he did inherit it and not take it!!

As for Chrysii, she can have Saddle Arabia, cus no-pony cares about Saddle Arabia.

*plays Lion King music* BE PREPARED!!! For my debate with myself.

Why I'd Join Celestia;

Loyalty is sorta my thang. And I sorta love the daytime, and Celestia just seems so sweet ^-^

Why I'd join Luna;

Luna is my favorite princess.

and Republic sounds better.

and night is really pretty.

@,

Discord did take over though. Even if Celestia and Luna did not enter the picture until later, the three pony tribes united to form a better way of life for all of them, then Discord came in and reduced everything to madness. To him, the ponies were just playthings, their happiness and safety came second to his enjoyment. He was a despot, plain and simple.

Sombra same deal, anypony that would enslave his citizens forfeits any right to ruler-ship including birthright.

I'm an anarchist myself, but if their is to be a sovereign, I'd rather live under two benevolent immortals than a mad god or a tyrannic sorcerer.

I would gladly serve a mad god & a tyrranic Sorcerer, after all, I am loyal to madness. Plus Despotism seems more efficient than a Di-archy, there is no debate over whether or not something would be done, it is done.

@,

Well then I guess it would be pointless to debate any further, as madness by it's nature lacks consistency, so how can I win an argument against one who is mad?

If I may though, what Celestia and Luna together represent a Thearchy, government directly by God. Such a government would be perfect, in theory, because it's governed by a perfect being.

Now both aren't perfect as characters, but the point is they both are closer to the model than Discord or Sombra.

Theocracies, pfft! It seems to me they are running more of an aristocracy, as there are multiple royals and we know that to become a princess you have to earn it.

That gets me thinking...are there male Alicorn princes? Hmm...

No you are mistaken, Theocracy is rule by the Church, Thearchy is rule directly by God. Celestia and Luna have some underneath them, but that's not doubt to help them manage actually running the nation. They may both be powerful, but they can only divide their attention so much.

either way, their rule seems more of an aristocracy, equestria is just ruled by elites.

Anyway, they are more like demi-gods as they have some divine power but not quite enough.

Also, where's the Daedra of Oblivion when you need them? I'm sure they would love Discord.

What about Mayor Mare? She's an elected official, and I assume the same for Manehatten. Canterlot is no doubt ruled by some kind of nobility, but it's the capital and Celestia Herself probably weighs heavily on it's day to day functions.

Cloudsdale is a bit of a mystery but given the large worker population, I can't see any kind of nobility holding the kind of respect it would take to effectively lead it.

So I would have to disagree that Equestria is an Aristocracy, it seems more like a loose Confederacy with a Divine Executive branch.

Well i guess its more of a semi-republic then, you vote a local official in but not the rulers, the rulers appoint the rulers. (and the rubbers appoint the rubbers). Hmm.... it could also be a semi-democratic Empire, as Equestria is divided into kingdoms (based on what we know from The Crystal Empire and Twilight at the beginning of Equestria Girls: "What if Celestia gives me a Kingdom to rule now I'm a princess?! I don't think I'm read for such a responsability!!")

Neither, I would consider myself an Equestrian patriot, for the United Equestria I salute thee. This is almost like asking which was better the West Roman Empire or the East Roman Empire, both empires did have obvious differences, Latin west and Greek east, the wealth was in the east, but tradition was in the west, yet both inhabitants from each empire called themselves Romanos, or Rhomaioi, so I would feel better in a United Equestria rather than Solar Empire or Lunar Republic, besides we have seen what jealousy and envy has done to the ponies in the past, so to take than on a intercontinental and political level as the Romans did, that could invite civil war, growing rivalry, and lack of cooperation, which is more of an human thing rather than pony, so I support a United Equestria, we who are friends salute you.

@,

Yeah that makes sense, a fair assertion. As I said though, I'd rather live under the lax rule of two immortals who won't be succeeded by someone less than moral because they are undying, than be at the whims of an all too mortal despot or a monstrously callous puppet master.

Because of the way I am I would invite a civil war, perfect chance for Discord, Sombra and Chrysaliss to take power.

  • 2 weeks later...

The diarchy is pretty good. I love the idea of the NLR, and I love Luna (she is best pony) but the diarchy seems perfect.

Here is my ponysona Lee! An interesting character, by all accounts.

The split minded adventurer David Pocket is here with Poe to keep him company. (Both in need of very heavy editing :/ )

  • 4 months later...

Celestia is already the main ruler of EQ (no offense Luna) and now she wants to bring eternal day? She already has everypony bowing down at her every whim and now she wants MORE power? Hmm.. I think Luna has a right to stand up about this! Besides, Celestia is getting old and Luna has potential! GO LUNAR REPUBLIC!  :comeatus:

Celestia wants too much power, she's already the main ruler of Equestria! I  say Luna has rights to stand up about this. Luna also has potential being a good ruler and Celestia's reign is getting old.

UP WITH THE NLR!

You are aware that given track records, Luna is a far worse leader, right?
