If you want calming music, you should take a listen to some of the tracks in Final Fantasy VIII. The following two tracks are of the same melody, but present themselves in a very different way. They flow very smoothly though, and is truly mesmerizing. I sometimes get sleepy just listening to this and going around in circles in the confusing labyrinths that "Find Your Way" plays in!

Hope this song fits in the ambient category.. the bass is a little punchy, so I doubt you'd be falling asleep listening to this, but that isn't to say you can't forget about your worries and troubles for 5.5 minutes.

Here's another noteworthy Final Fantasy VIII track. For some reason, I think FFVIII has the most ambient soundtrack out of all the FF installments. No idea why, the compositions are just really smooth and laid-back.
