Who would you meet?

Lost

Recommended Posts

If you could meet anyone at all and talk to them who would you meet and why?

This person can be someone living or dead but cannot be a fictional character.

For the sake of making the selection broad, the person will speak your language perfectly.

I personally would meet Leonardo Da Vinci, purely because he was a fascinating person, he invented so many things and had so many theorys while also being an incredibly skilled artist.

George Washington. His life and his actions during the Revolution are a great example of a good leader. He definitely had his flaws, especially during his early years, but he inspires me.

I too, would like to meet Leonardo Da Vinci. I don't really have much to say since you already took the words straight from my mouth. =P Skilled, artisitic, genious, everything.

Life is an adventure. An adventure of mistakes, accidents, and misunderstandings.

That's what makes life life.

I would love to meet Jesus after he got crucified.

It would be amazing to hear him speak (especially as I'm a Christian) and to know just how difficult going thought crucifiction would be.

For fun: meeting Andrea Libman or Tara strong would be pretty cool, there just purely fun people to be around (unless they act incredibly fake at conventions) and I'm sure we would have loads of fun!

Jesus Christ and I am very serious about this. He has done so many amazing and heartwarming things and it would like an honor to meet him and maybe hug him!

Beethoven, The musical genius behind such works as "Symphony number 5" and "Symphony number 9". I would love to ask him what his inspiration was. (you know before he went deaf).

Either him or John Lennon. He was the symbol of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. I would love to meet him and talk to him for at least an hour. Just to figure out what was going through his mind when he wrote the beautiful song "Imagine".

Personally, I would've loved to have a chat with Mike Alexander, deceased and former bass player of a metal band. Heavy metal is a white man dominated genre, and to find a black metal playing Thrash is a rarity to me, so I considered him one of my idols. After dying in 2009, I mourned because it was so unfortunate, especially being at age 32 when he passed away.

As for people I'd like to meet that are serious... I've either already met them or I still keep in touch with.

I would like to have a discussion with Mr. Rogers, my personal childhood hero. He was truly a special person whom I would love to have a discussion with about anything. The interaction would probably be somewhat like when Spike met Fluttershy in episode 1.

It disappoints me that I saw a certain "news" station trailing his name through the mud a while ago and a few of my friends mock him, but he is still undoubtedly my awesomest neighbour.

I would want to meet Agatha Christe. I have yet to read anything she's written but I don't care. I love to read and I'll probably read something by her one day. And besides, there was a Doctor Who episode where the Doctor met her. That just makes her awesome.

You cannot argue with that.

I'd also love to meet Abraham Lincoln, and maybe John Paul II. This is a toughie.

This is by no means an exhaustive list.

Historical

Jesus of Nazareth: I think the reasons would be fairly obvious.

Mary, Mother of Jesus: Because I worship the bishop of Rome. Duh. More seriously speaking, Luke is the only source in the gospels which provides an account of the Virginal Conception and Jesus's childhood. To know what Mary had witnessed before, during, and after her Son's ministry would be one of the most intimate explorations of the life of Jesus.

St. Paul the Apostle: I would have more than a few questions about his theology (e.g., on grace, faith, etc.). I also admire Paul's tenacity, resolve, and, of course, his beautiful letters. I would be so eager to ask him about certain passages from his aforementioned letters, such as Philippians 2:6-11.

St. Augustine of Hippo: He is a giant, if not the giant, of Western Christian thought. It would be like Twilight Sparkle meeting Star Swirl the Bearded---not that I am the prized student of Princess Celestia.

Thomas Merton: I would have liked to have known his response to more recent conflicts (e.g., the Iraq War) through the prism of Christian peacemaking.

Alexander Hamilton: Instrumental in the formation of the American political and financial systems. How would his vision of federalism mesh with the current state of the United States?

Abraham Lincoln: Perhaps more conventional but no less meaningful. Beyond picking his brain over the Civil War, I understand that Lincoln had a sharp wit which his contemporaries either overlooked or considered inappropriate.

Franklin D. Roosevelt: The longest serving American president who was instrumental in shaping America's domestic and foreign policy for the next half century. Could he have ever imagined when he first took office that he would leave such an enormous mark on US (and global) politics?

Raymond Brown: He was a preeminent Catholic biblical scholar (my father knew him personally). I would have enjoyed talking shop with a man who was highly regarded in his field.

Mel Blanc: The man of a thousand voices. I'd like to hear from the one that gave birth to the other 999.

Philip "Lefty" Weinert: My grandfather, with whom I never met personally. To get to know him, to talk baseball with him---that is pretty hard to beat.

Contemporary

Barack Obama: I have the impression there is a lot more going on in his mind than people may give him credit for. It seems to me that he would make for an interesting a thought provoking conversation.

"Weird Al" Yankovic: I've met with him briefly, confined to autographs after his concerts. From stories about him and from personal digest, my sense is that he is a smart, thoughtful man who also happens to be arguably the best satirist of this generation.

Charlize Theron: So I could drool on the table while sitting across from her. Way to make an impression!

Lauren Faust: And then we get serious again. I would want to thank her profusely and praise her work, undoubtedly causing Mrs. Faust a lot of good humored discomfort.

Tara Strong: She always comes off as a down to earth and genuine person with gobs of talent to boot. I think those qualities alone speak for themselves.

Tabitha St. Germain: I listened to her interview on Everfree Radio. I came away infinitely impressed. Tabitha would likely be the cast member I would talk to first if the conversation could not revolve around ponies.

Gary Cohen: Because every Mets fan has fallen in love with the sound of his voice, through good times and (mostly) bad. And the two of us could talk baseball---lots of it.

That's enough for now, I think.

Bob Ross. I love watching him paint. It just sort of calms me down listening to him talk about his animal friends and encouraging people to paint along.

That show was so mellow, I'm actually amazed it was one of my favorite shows when I was still eight.

Back to the question. I'd like to meet Vladimir Lenin, why? Just to prod a little bit more on what his goal for the masses was, an expansion on what he envisioned basically.

Mahatma Gandhi, I would love to ask him so many questions regarding how he pulled off the task he put himself into so well, as his actions are what I try to emulate in my current life. Also Lionel Messi, because he is the best Footballer EVER and I would do a fangirl squeal and faint if I met him (keep in mind, I am still a very STRAIGHT guy)

Some of the people I'd like to meet:

-JFK

-Gandhi

-Mehmed VI

-Leon Trotsky

-Dennis Kucinich

-m00t (c'mon, who wouldn't?)

-Harry Truman

-Bill Cosby (Honestly, I love that guy. He's like a giant hugbox.)

But if I really had to choose one person, I'd go with Andrew Jackson. He really is an inspirational figure, and maybe the best president to ever live.
