Double Dragon

or was that SNES...

Meh, I don't really care. If it was SNES, then Super Mario Brothers 3 is my second favorite.

You forgot about Halo 7, the seqal to the game with endless sequals.

also some other games, like battlefield 10.

Honestly, my favorite NES game is Crystalis. It's a great action RPG that I recommend more people play, as from what I've seen it's kind of unheard of. It has a couple issues, including a few enemies that have broken collision detection so they are able to hurt you even though you aren't directly touching them; but the graphics, the music, and the storyline for the game are outstanding.

Plus, in Japan the game is called God Slayer, which is such an awesome name I'm surprised it didn't sell even more copies.

I love super Mario bros 3. It never gets old stomping on goombas and kicking turtle shells. I still never beat the game though. World 7 is near damn impossible for me.

World seven? Talk about world 8... so many parts of the map and so many tank mini-stages... It's overwhelming!

and bowser is even harder... biggest pain in my life, but it was worth it :(:D

My favorites were Bubble Bobble and the original Legend Of Zelda. Bubble Bobble is fun with friends and the Legend of Zelda is a great adventure

The NES was before my time, but I did pick one up on eBay seven or eight years ago, and it does get played often, sitting right next to my 360 in my living room, so I still feel qualified to answer this question. Right?

Grr. SMB 3 is freaking amazing, but Kirby's Adventure probably bedazzled me a bit more. Also, there's Gunsmoke which kept me entertained for days, StarTropics which was confusing but fun in the end, the best 8 bit hockey game ever; Blades of Steel, then there's - FFFFUUUUU-

Too many. Just way too many greats.

I don't know... um... It comes down to either Tetris, the greatest puzzle game EVER, or Kirby's adventure. I can't really pick, I love both of them D:

The NES has an amazing library. I guess if I had to narrow it down to one favorite, it would be....

The Legend of Zelda.

Honestly, I'd put Dragon Warrior/Quest III here since it's awesome, but I'm not going to lie: All the classic Dragon Warrior/Quest games have been done better on other consoles as remakes, Dragon Warrior/Quest III having a Super Famicom remake far superior to the NES release. The first Legend of Zelda did have a Super Famicom remake, but from what I hear, it had issues, and it was only available legitimately for a short time on the BS Satelleview thing, so I'm not counting it since legitimately determining its quality as a game is impossible today since it cannot be played in its original state. Super Mario Bros. 3 would be my favorite, but it too has a higher-quality remake on the SNES (on the Super Mario All-Stars cart) that was presented better. Graphics don't really matter usually, but I'll add them in as a factor. There were far less glitches, mostly.

With that little nerdramble out of the way... The Legend of Zelda is my favorite NES game. There's just something about it that makes it so great. The level design, the art, that unforgettable chime when you get a treasure. Sure, the game gets cryptic, especially in the second quest, but not enough to really drag the game down as a whole. It's one of those games that, to me, even though it's ancient by game standards, it still holds up to this day. It's a piece of gaming history, for sure.

If you want to skip all three paragraphs, short answer: The Adventures of Link.

Nes? Oh lawdy, that's a hard one. I love the original final fantasy, the adventures of link and contra were wonderful, Super Mario Bros 3 was such a classic, the nes was a truly beautiful generation of gaming. Indeed! I find 8-bit music quite appealing! I love my gameboy, I find the games intensely more appealing. Of course I have good games for it, or at least what I consider good. Pokemon, FF1, 2, and 5, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, alas, that is not NES. The only NES games I own that I like with a blazing passion are the adventures of link, legend of zelda, and contra. The NES final fantasy is splendiferous however I do not own it.

Of what I own my favorite is the adventure of link, it is the one game to utilize leveling and I am a total sucker for level grinding. It's such a beautifully simple system, boost one of three stats: attack, magic, or life. This means you can, essentially, adjust the dificulty on yourself, something that people like me, who suck at gaming, may enjoy. Contra was incredible, however I only beat it with help, and it was rather short... Yet not so short as to be a bad game, no, it was the perfect length. The legend of zelda was so long, but you can grind rupys and get various boosts like the big shield and blue ring right off the bat. I know, I'm a cheapskate. Sue me. Mario was too hard or me, but it was fun.

In the end without the restriction of what I have I either like Adventures of Link or Final Fantast I (at the time just Final Fantasy), they both utilize leveling, and have good gameplay. The story of both are a bit substandard for today, but screw the storyline, Kingdom Hearts has a good storyline but it makes it so hard to get into. Zelda is guy kidnaps princess, you get cool sword and magical triangles to kill him. Final fantasy, bad dude wants to rule world, you get crystals and kick their booty-batooty. In the end I like the simplicity and dynamic of The Adventures of Link, so I must place that as my top with FF, SMB3, and LoZ, and Contra, as honorary mentions.

My good sir, I should kindly remind you of a typo you made in the thread title.

Games, not game. Also, you're misusing the word Games. You mean game series. (BTW the word series only exists in the plural form.)

So, to recap, the thread title should be "What are your favorite NES game series?" (again, series being plural.)

Okay, rant aside, I can really only list my favorite series (with some single games).

Zelda, Castlevania, Mega Man, Mario, Ikari Warriors, Heavy Barrel, Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, Tombs and Treasure, Swords and Serpents, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bandai Golf: Challenge Pebble Beach, etc. etc...

The list goes on for a few pages. I may only be 16, but I grew up with the NES. (and SNES, and to a lesser extent, N64.).

What are some of yours? I think it's tough to top Mario Bros. 3. Although Duck Hunt was worth wasting plenty of time on haha. Also, gottsa love the Mega Man franchise.

Oddly enough, I would have to say "Mario Paint". Most people probably thought it was boring, but it was fun for me.

Of course, nowadays, I don't like the Mario Franchise, but it's still my favorite NES game.
