writing A Smile

Your heart is bleeding,

And you see nothing,

Nothing worth anything,

Your tears,

And you weep.

 

Sorrow in every direction,

My heart is crumbling too,

It hurts like it's never hurt,

And my head's going to explode.

 

Gashes, scars, a lonely beast without love.

I feel them all inside,

This pain,

It's rending us apart.

 

But I say,

No!

I won't let it stop me.

And I won't let it stop you either.

 

You best get ready,

Because the fire's burning in my soul.

I will not stop,

Until I get what I want.

 

To sit down and do nothing,

Is a waste of your time.

Why submit to your fate?

When there is no fate?

Nobody is pulling our strings,

Except us.

 

Fight!

Stand up,

And give it your might.

Don't let your tears control you,

Don't let the Darkness hold you.

 

Arise!

Stand up to the challenge.

Because I will fight until I drop,

And then I'll get up again,

And I'll fight some more.

 

My heart is set,

And nothing,

And nobody,

Will stop me from smiling.

I have smiled in the face of death,

In the face of the Darkness,

In the face of hatred,

And I will smile,

In your face too.

 

My Flames are burning hot,

I am the reddest of the red,

Passion and vivacity,

Inspiring you unlike any other.

 

You need a rock?

I will be your rock!

Even when I have crumbled,

Even when I was weak,

I will be strong.

I will always be there for you,

And I will be there for me too.

 

You going to cry?

Cry on my shoulder.

And I'll tell you of all the pain I've known,

And all of the joy I've known,

Just to see you smile.

 

Smile at me, please!

I want to see your beautiful eyes,

Light up with the most beautiful thing in the world.

A smile.

 

Just one smile,

Please,

Fight the sorrow with your smiles.

Inspire my soul,

Impassion me with the desire!

To fight.

Because as long as I see that light come over your face,

No Darkness will ever conquer me.

 

Because goddamn,

I will bash my fist in the face of the world,

And I will win.

I will win.

Just to see you smile.

You felt the words of this poem on an emotional level enough to cry tears? Wow. I did not think my poem could move someone so profoundly, but I did put a lot of myself into it. I am truly elated to hear though that I could help you with this simple writing, as someone who has suffered from depression in the past.

Nico, I don't usually feel good about my writing. But this makes me feel better. As I've told you, I've always felt my words weren't fancy enough. Not big enough. Not a varied enough vocabulary as some others. To hear though that my lack of big words makes my poem more emotional and that I can invoke it in people makes me proud. Thank you so much for this compliment.
