I love the pony who started this thread...

Well being that I was born in the late 70's, the 80's were my formative years and my childhood. I love the music, the fashion, the lingo, the games

So where do I start?

The music. The music of the 80's has so much pep and vigor and happiness (probably due to the large amount of cocaine consumed). My favorite genre ever is 80's pop

Michael Jackson, Debbie Gibson, ABC, Tiffany...and then there is the other music

Genesis (and Phil Collins) - He/them are my absolute favorite band/performer ever

The games

Burgertime, burgertime. burgertime...I loved the Atari 7800 and when I got my NES I almost died

Atari Circus and Atari Football with the greatst game glitch in history

Then the movies...oh man

First off...John friggin Hughes...Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink

Real Genius, Revenge of the Nerds, Weird Science, 2 Star Wars Films, Dirty Dancing, Princess Bride...I mean I could go on

I just love it...it's my childhood and I remember all of it being so lovely and happy

Thanks for this thread!

@@Cupcake Ice Cream, Firstly, thank you. I'm so glad you mentioned Phil Collins, (how he wasn't mentioned before is beyond me :P). He was a true performer. I found an Atari 2600 in my grandmas basement, that is the closest thing I have to an Atari 7800. Dirty Dancing is one of my all time favorite movies of all time. I honestly am jealous of you for being born in the late 70s. I still use 80s lingo in normal conversations. People usually look at me with a confused look though...

No problem my friend. And yes I am so happy to be a child of the 80's. It was such a surreal and happy time. Sure there were bad things but I feel like my childhood was so wholesome and fun

80's Metal is best Metal. So many epic bands from the 80's, stupid me getting born in 1997. Oh well, at least I can still listen to 80's music.

Amen to that. I wish I could have gone to an Anthrax or Metallica or Iron Maiden concert when they were the metal gods. I hate the fact I was born in 97'. Maybe even a Micheal Jackson concert. I agree we can still listen to 80's music and we can still go to shows, but man its just not the same as it was back then.

I'm glad @Cupcake Ice Cream, brought up Genesis, because Peter Gabriel!!! LOOOOOOVE Peter Gabriel, thanks for reminding me. And Billy effing Idol (my first concert, when I was 8....he came out onstage from a giant middle finger, LOL!), and The Cure, and Depeche Mode, and Sisters of Mercy, and Big Country, and Midnight oil, and..... ^_^

Best thing to come out of the 80s? Me, of course! Seriously, though, the 80s were my childhood and you have no idea how strange it is to read a thread of people wishing they lived back then.

I mostly find it funny because my friends always talked about how they wished they'd lived in the 60s and my parents thought they were nuts. I guess I know how they felt now, though personally I'm flattered and happy that everyone seems to like my favorite decade.

There is a Mario hat that says "made in the 80s" that I desperately want.

Anyway, on with the post...

Burgertime, burgertime. burgertime...

This, this, this. This was my favorite game for a while. Also I have fond memories of King's Quest. My uncle was a programmer for IBM and had some really awesome computers in his house as well as many bootleg games. King's Quest was one of them and we would play it whenever we went over there.

Also Combat, it was the first video game I ever beat my brother at.

First off...John friggin Hughes...Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink

Real Genius, Revenge of the Nerds, Weird Science, 2 Star Wars Films, Dirty Dancing, Princess Bride...I mean I could go on

Revenge of the Nerds, Weird Science, and Princess Bride are some of my all time favorites.

A few more things I liked; Star Wars collector glasses, Knowing being Half of the Battle, and twirling the phone cord around your finger while you sat tethered to the wall.
