Why is Scootaloo so popular?

I think most of the people who like Scootaloo like her because they're big RD fans and Scootaloo is a big RD fan.

 

That's what it's like for me anyway, we're both huge RD fans

I have to say scootaloo really has no depth as a character

she's the least developed out of the three crusaders

the most she really has going for her is using a scooter

which comes from her name obviusly

 

she's always been the most meh of the crusaders for me

Scootaloo is one of my favorite ponies, one of the reasons is the fact she can't fly (I know I may be sick for saying that), but I feel that having a pony that can't do something just adds depth to the character.

Not only is she the only one in CMC who can not sing, Scootaloo seems different from the other fillies. She's the only one who's family we never see. She's a very unique character and my favorite CMC.

Same as what DottyDoo said... I can see why she'd be popular...She's different from all the other ponies.

However I don't really like her. I think her personality stinks.

I'm not so sure if they would make her crippled in the show... Think about it... It's kind of dark to have a crippled young girl/filly in a children's show...

She is by word of Lauren, and as others have pointed out, it's happened before. In fact, IIRC, Lauren even had a series of episodes in mind where Scootaloo would learn to accept that she would never fly, and change her life course to her actual skills instead of impossible dreams; i.e, scooting, instead of flying.

 

Interestingly enough, looks like S1E18 covered about the same moral, but with less intensity than having Scoot's dreams come crashing down on her...

 

Scootaloo is adorable, it was really neat to see that she was quite similar to her g3/g3.5 counterpart and yet still got room to grow sad she lost her sister (Cheerilee, and unnamed mother) but she gained wings (that she can't use). But I have come to like the CMC episodes more as time goes on

And I don't get the sisterly figure thing, either. RD calls Scootaloo "squirt" all the time, and squirt is something you call a puny kid shorter than you.

 

I always wonder why she gets so much attention as well, she isn't likable to me.

Thats actually what I like about her her tomboyish personality which seems even more so than her idol. She tries to deny any of that cutsey wutsey stuff (like when the mane 6 hugged and she was like "eww")

 

Another reason shes a pegasus that cant fly...i I mean really shes the only pegasus we've seen in the whole series that cant fly.

 

EDIT: and as for the whole "squirt" thing im sure thats just Rainbow playing around with Scootaloo.
