I don't have any interest in this thread because The Beatles weren't "nominated" for candidates. I'd actually love to have a nice explanation of why.

You can't nominate the same band. You'll have to choose another.

 

So that means we are up to 63 bands. One more and it will be complete.

 

HOWEVER, if need be, I am gonna wait until Tuesday until I do the bracket to see if anybody else would like to nominate a few more bands, since 64 is the minimum. By Tuesday, I will close nomination and start making the bracket.

Don't worry! If someone else nominates a band and we get an even number total of nominations, then Nightwish can indeed go on the list. I just don't want to have wild card matches as they mess up the whole structure of the bracket.

To be honest, I thought of this issue when you first posted this idea. For instance, in some hypothetical matchup between Artist A and Artist B, I might like Artist A more than Artist B, but it so happens that I like the song representing Artist B more than that representing Artist A. If I were judging strictly on the basis of the songs, then I would vote for Artist B. However, for some other reasons (such as thinking that Artist A deserves more recognition or Artist A has better musicianship), I could vote for Artist A.

 

It seems that the proper way would be to judge solely on the songs in each round. To compare to March Madness, if a team is generally really good, but has a bad game and loses one of the rounds, then they are out. Similarly, if an artist is generally really good, but has a bad song representing them that fewer people like, then they should be out.

 

However, ultimately, no one can force anyone to abide by such a judgment method, and people are going to vote for their own reasons which they don't have to share.

Don't doubt yourself yet. I happen To love Nightwish . But I do think we should vote on several factors

 

-Does it catch your ear?

-Take a look at the composition

-Do you enjoy the vocals

-Are you listening to all parts in the song and taking in detail

 

 

And Finally the most important

-are you non biased?

For example " NO WAY IM NOT VOTING FOR MEGADETH DAVE MUSTAINE IS A LOSER HE GOT KICKED OUT OF METALLICA!" "I HATE THIS BAND I WON'T GIVE IT A SHOT" " NO WAY I HATE AXL ROSE!" ( Though I don't think anyone listed GnR)
