Hidden Jokes?

So, I was wondering if anyone has seen a recurring joke in an episode or seen a charter doing something in an episode that they do all the time? I ask because a lot of show do this sometimes and I want to see if anyone has seen anything.

 

I did see this one joke that took place in the episode "Baby Cakes." In the episode Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake were always doing the same thing in every scene. Pumpkin Cake was always chewing on something. Of corse that was pretty obvious. She was alway chewing on something in the episode. It was either an item or her own hoof. Now for Pound Cake I think his was a little harder to see. Every scene he was in, Pound was alway moving his hoofs around. He did it the whole episode. When Mr. Cake showed him, during Pinkie Pies one mouth anniversary song, when the Cakes left for the party, during Pinkies second song, Snack time and bath time. All kinds of scenes show him moving his hoofs around. You can even say when he started flying he was moving his hoofs, because he was walking on the ceiling.

 

I know this might not be a big deal, but I thought it was worth mentioning and seeing if anyone else found anything.

Recurring jokes that I'll never be tired of... Well Rainbow Dash taking a day off... That's the only one I can really think of except Fluttershy being shy.

Not sure if those are recurring jokes. Those are just things things their charters do and it's not to hidden. Like what I said with the twins or a charter always having a certain item. Maybe I am wrong and those are jokes they do.

Well I think they are recurring jokes. I think it could be taken either way, because it's both a joke and it goes with their personalities...

I remeber when I was watching the episode when Pinkie befriended Cranky Doodle Donkey, that when he was running away from Pinkie, he hid uner a bridge. I think that was a troll reference.... I also remember that in the same episode, Derpy was in the snow globe Cranky (or Pinkie?) shook. Last one I remember is a Illuminati reference in the episode "Nightmare Night", where when everypony was panicking, one of the stalls had the Eye symbol on it.

 

The first was I think was a joke, the rest I was just rambling on

Well, they made this really obvious in the Gilda episode, but when Pinkie was chasing Dash she just kept bouncing slowly and somehow caught up to Dash. I found that really funny xP

Ok, maybe I should try a different example so everyone get's this. Here was another hidden joke in the episode Sweet and elite. Every dress Rarity wore in the episode, were dress she had worn in other episodes. Her grand galloping gala dress, another one from green isn't your color, Sister hood social.

 

So kinda like that.

I can't say i've really noticed anything from watching the seasons over so far.

i've watched them all about 2 times atleast but I guess I'm just not super observant

It's kind of obvious, but Rainbow Dash forcing Fluttershy to help/do something. (eg, in Secret of my Excess when Spike and Rarity are falling, or in the Last Roundup when they have to pull the cart. Hurricane Fluttershy was even an episode that centered around the idea of Rainbow Dash wanting Fluttershy to do stuff. They also did it in the cider episode and Dragon Quest.) was a very cute running gag and something that they did a lot during season 2. Edited September 18, 2012 by Rarietty

the one thing I usually see reoccurring is that Derpy is in alot of background things... Like for instance the "Find a pet" song... Near the end when fluttershy sings: "Let the games begin~" and the camera zooms out... you can see Derpy sticking her head out of the chicken shed...

No one mentioned Trollestia yet? It's not just an internet thing; she's done a few things that pranked/confused/tormented ponies. Some of them require a bit of reading into it, but others are more obvious...

 

In Bird in the Hoof, she poked fun at the Ponyville residents' over-fawning when she pretended to sip her tea

 

In Family Appreciation Day she smiled while her new subject kissed her hoof (while his wife glared at her for it)

I don't think it's a joke, so much as it is the series nodding to certain events that happened, one I can think of off the spot is the episode in which Rainbow Dash breaks her wing and has to wait in bed, this episode is about her learning that she loved to read "Daring Doo" stories. Two episodes later, in the Cranky Doodle Donkey episode, she is hanging out in Twilight's library, reading a Daring Doo book. She makes no reference to it, she simply says that not every pony would appreciate Pinkie's hyper-active approach to making friends. (I'm paraphrasing of course.) I believe the creator's put these subtle nods to the show in to say to the viewer, "Yeah, remember when that happened?"

Haha. Don't worry I know the feeling. I have that happen all the time. And yes I can see we are infact on the same page hehe.
