I can't quite say that I know for certain that there are over a million bronies, but odds are there are over a million. There are billions I people on earth so 1 million is less than 1% and that's an easy percentage to obtain.

At least 1-4 million. I doubt stores would want to keep MLP merchandise in stock unless they knew there was a sizable following that would make it worth it for them.

I think there are over a million bronies judging from the amount of fan works that are still being made and the number of conventions still running.
