Trust me, the anime really sucks. the only thing worth while to watch are the movies (the Zoroak movie has to be one of my favs, along with the 4th)

 

If you want good pokemon stories, look up the comics. Any of the comics will do. They are all much better then the anime...Ash just sucks.

The card game was so difficult for me as a kid.

 

You had to use the powerup cards that went with their element, and their attack power was their hp...

It was confusing.

I don't think he ever really played it the way it's intended, he was more of just collecting them and yes I've always found those games overly complicated.

Nuzlocke challenge going great, I've got a Chandelure named Trixie, and a Druddigon(I <3ed when it was the first pokemon I saw there!) named Discord who replaced my Stoutland. And I haven't had any team mate deathes yet, and I'm grinding for the elites! And by Elites I mean that damned Hydreigon.

 

I'll do a team update later, but its basically Samurott, Lilligant, Gigalith, Garbodor, Chandelure and Druddigon.
