Ever wonder why Fluttershy gets so mad, like in The best night ever, she goes on a rampage trying to catch animals and tries to eat *in reality holds the animal with her teeth*

Anypony what got her to get pissed so easily?

Remember that she does similar in certain episodes of season 2

EDIT: now everpony can just talk about FS being mad over anything an what makes her mad.

I don't think mental issues are the problem. To me, that just seems like immense frustration.

 

Perhaps this shows that she's kind up to a certain point.

Yeah I think its just frustration. Imagine you in her shoes (or hooves), all your life animals have flocked to you and become your friend until now. Now they don't like you and want to stay away from you. I'm sure that would make your a little frustrated, I know I would.

Well I think I'd know my wife. She was just upset that all the critters didn't come frolicking towards and with her. Such selfish animals they are.....they should consider themselves lucky to be loved.

I have wondered whether she has a lot of pent up aggression that occasionally bursts out, and whether the gala and iron will incidents were simply all of her frustrations coming out

I would imagine she was abusing the opportunity to release pent up emotions from flight camp. If I were in her place, I would look for something/someone smaller and less powerful than me and, most importantly of all, can't talk back.

She has a lot of bottled up anger and frustration. She has always been bullied and pushed around. She never is able to let off steam, so when the anger starts to leak out, it explodes out.

I actually know a few people in my life like Fluttershy. They are the sweetest and most kindest souls on the planet, but if you piss them off at just the right moment, they can turn into a savage behemoth not worth the time fighting.

Oh, I've been wondering why FS was so mad sometimes.

She's not one of my favourites, but if she gets something good in season 3, she may move up a spot or two.....

I don't know if you could say fluttershy has a mental issue because she got mad and had an emotional breakdown. I'm pretty sure everyone has emotional breakdowns at somepoint. (And Biologically speaking girls would have it even more likely, no offense.)

Shes just shy. And loves animals, but when they all stopped loving her and she couldn't have them love her anymore she got quite frusterated. Thus resulting in the wrath of fluttershy D: Very scary if you ask me...

I still kinda like these type of threads when they analyze this sorta thing, but for what you brought up in particular I couldn't really truly work something out of it to believe she had a health problem.

I agree! I think alot of shy quite, kind people are like this. I myself am pretty shy, and people normally consider me to be pretty kind considering I'm quiet and passive speaker most of the time, but i'll admit when I get mad I just want to do unspeakable things... I want to like flip tables through peoples faces.

Why was Fluttershy so mad those few episodes? Years and years and years and years and years and years and a couple of months and some more years and a few weeks and a really bad Monday of pent up and repressed emotions spilling over all at once. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

It's a cartoon. Why wouldn't you wanna exaggerate emotions (or personalities in general) to make an episode interesting? =p

 

That episode will arguably be less interesting if Fluttershy was mild instead of being over-the-top angry.

I honestly think she has a lot of pent-up anger and frustration that she doesn't know how to express, and it boils out of her when her feelings are badly hurt (the animals running away from her) or someone else manipulates her (Discord) or gives her ideas (Iron Will's seminar).

 

 

This is really the most interesting side of Fluttershy's character, for me. She kind of just floats there being cute in a lot of episodes, but when her dark side comes out I identify with her very deeply.

@, yeah you nailed it right there. Fluttershy can be somewhat the reverse opposite of a Tsundere, but only for very key moments under proper conditions.

One of my best friends is like that. He apologizes over every little thing, and rarely shows a hint of emotion. When his friends aren't around he is easily driven to madness.

This is it right here. I've met people that are either a)short tempered or keep the anger inside. Anger and frustration are negative energies. If a pony does not know how to dissipate this energy or balance it out as it enters the body's vortex of expression, then the energy must simply build up until it can be expressed negative emotional form through the physical body. Pretty crazy huh?

One must also understand that the female body produces different chemicals that react differently to various states of emotion. Many times this can lead to emotional imbalance. I used to know a girl that would talk all nice to me and then out of no where yell at her kids. Unfortunately, her two girls were so used to the yelling that they became imune any time she tried to yell at them. When a child shows behavior such that. It does not mean that mom is just being mom. It means that the constant yelling will have deep phsicological effects on them as they grow older. It can manifest itself as stages of depression or mental health problems. I was attempting and making headway and turning her around but one day it all went south.
