I know this is an Earth shaking idea...maybe somebody just thought it looked, gasp, cool! Personally I think it was a joke by the animators. Not about the super scary (and pretend) Illuminati, but about Celestia is always watching.

That's what I was intending. I don't believe that the Illuminati actually exists (in the satanic way atleast) and I doubt any kids show animators would be in it.

Was I the only one who noticed a sly refrence to Harry Harrison's "Stainless Steel Rat" novels when Chancellor Puddinghead wanted to name it "Dirt" and Smart Cookie suggested Earth? On several occasions in the novels, characters refer to the long ago lost homeworld of Humanity as "Dirt or Earth". It seems that nobody in the far distant future is sure which is the proper name!
