I'm not too into shipping, in fact I hate it except under some very, very rare occasions. But there is one ship that I support wholeheartedly and is practically verified by canon. A ship so grand as

I don't get into shipping much when in comes to ANY fandom but as far as My Little Pony goes....   I really like Fluttershy + Big Macintosh.

Lesbian shippings are more cute and more numerous than the straight ones. Fact.

My favourite shippings are Vinyl x Octavia, Applebloom x Scootaloo and Lyra x BonBon.

 

More numerous? Fact. More cute? Not fact. Just your opinion.

For some reason the lesbian ships really, really irritate me. Which is strange, because I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality whatsoever. I guess to me they just feel so...forced. It just seems like there's literally no context to support them other than "hey these two characters are seen together a lot" or "these two characters are good friends".

I'm sure if you ask people about specific pairings they'll be more than happy to give you their own personal take on why, personality-wise, certain pairings work ^^

Perhaps, but for me, at least, that doesn't make the concept of shipping them any more appealing. Of course their personalities work together. That's why they're friends. Why do they have to be romantically involved?

I'm undecided on shipping, but that's probably because I'm too scared to read one right now...

 

I normally don't see the point in trying to make romance between characters in the show and changing the way I see the characters. Of course, this is a dumb thought anyway, as it is just fun ponies have in the fandom. I might give one a read if a good one comes along or somepony recommends one.

 

From what I do know, I generically don't care for the Octavia x Vinyl stuff. That is partly because Octavia is one of my Favorite background ponies, and I see them as being really good friends. I look up to their (supposed, fan given) friendship, since I never got a chance for something like that in real life. I just feel that Shipping ruins that for me.

 

I'm a "no" for clomping, by the way...

Meh, shipping is overused. Plus, the entire concept of shipping is screwed up.

 

If two characters like each other at all, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters hate each other with an all consuming hatred, that means they are perfectly compatible. If the characters are the same sex, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters are opposite sexes, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters are androgynous, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters never have interacted, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters are not even on the same plane of existence, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters are related biologically, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters are not even the same species, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters are against the concept of love to begin with, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two characters have ever been in remote proximity of one another, that means they are perfectly compatible. If two or more characters exist, that means they are perfectly compatible as a polyamorous shipping. If two characters are not perfectly compatible, that means they are perfectly compatible.

 

That wraps up pretty much every facet of these dumb dime-store novel ships.
