Is my dad Becoming a Brony?

No need to rush into conclusions. Turning into a brony sometimes takes a long process. I myself used to been a hater and I wasn't exposed to any forums or anything until I watched enough of the episodes then looked at the fan made materials. As far as I'm concerned he's trying to understand what you're enjoying, but it can likely go from liking, accepting, tolerating to just plain misunderstanding and just think the show is not something he thinks you should see. He could end up turning out to criticize the bronydom.

I almost spat my iced tea out when I read about that which may not be named! XD But I know how those 'hater' parents work too. I swear I think my family thinks I'm homosexual just because I enjoy watching My Little Pony. To make it worse, my step-father is a bit homophobic, not to mention that I have a homosexual cousin as well. I sense two things wrong with this! For one, why would it matter if I was homosexual? I'm not, but if I was, would they stop loving me over something so simple? Two, it's just a television show. So what? Everyone has something they enjoy.

 

yeah, it's kind of sad to see that most of the first haters are the parents. Especially the Asian-expectation parents. Unfortunately, I have those parents. What the parents need to see is that we can be a brony and do well in school/college/job at the same time.

Well, yeah, he's just probably seeing what the heck I'm watching. Idk... I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions, so I'm not. He's probably not trying to prevent me from watching this show, mostly because from what I see, he is almost enjoying the show. if anything, I think he just curious, but the more I think of it, the more I begin to jump to conclusions, so I'm just going to wait and see. After all, that's how I get to the bottom of things.

Wow, that sounds really cool that your dad seems to like the show. Heck, some bronies would be happy if they simply didn't DISLIKE it. Once people take the time to actually watch it, they see it's not really girly girly. But the show still has its girly moments, which usually involves Pinkie Pie singing. If that's the first thing they see in FiM, they probably jump to the wrong conclusion.

I honestly think he is just curious in what your doing, though I've been wrong before. If he is actually interested, I wouldn't welcome him just yet, show him some fan-art/music.

I can't imagine what it would be like for the two of you to sit down together and watch episodes of MLP or even going shopping together for brony shirts and toys.

Okay....that part creeped me out a bit... mostly because I'm not those bronies. But the most I would get is a shirt. That's about it. It would be cool to have my dad be a brony. We probably only watch episodes and stuff, but anything more is crossing my line. Overall, I think he would like being a brony. I thought it was a curse or something at first.

Whoa now, don't rush into anything. Your dad may be asking questions about the show because he's trying to humor you and try to be interested in what you are. Then again, he may also be probing to see how obsessed you are with the show. At least, that's what my parents did. Good luck, and congratulations on your father being more accepting of the show.

 

Also, you should probably save showing him the forums until later, just so you know his motives.
