I don't know whether or not this breach's some rule about not being allowed to talk about religion on the forums. At any rate if this is breaching any rules/Being a repeat of another poll made (I checked the last 5 pages of this forum and i didn't see anything) Feel free to tell me and i'll take this down.

Anyway, I'm personally an Agno-Non-Genissian-Christian Which means i believe in the christian god but i also believe in the big bang and Darwins theory of evolution. I also try and incorporate Buddhist morals into my life.

If i missed any religions i am sorry, Please alert me and i will add them.

We're going to get along just fine :) I'm an atheist. While I don't believe in any god I don't have anything against those that do. I do however take issue with people who ignore the evidence of the Big Bang, evolution and the fact the world is several billion years old in order to preserve their beliefs in intelligent design and a young Earth. If anyone finds what I've just said offensive then just don't provoke me.

Ok firstly, please add an option for those who arent "atheist" but do not follow any known religions. Because thats me. :) greatly appreciated bro ham.

I do not follow any mainstream religion. I dont believe in a god per-say, atleast not what is usually considered a god. I believe that the energy in the universe is god. Why?... energy isnt a bigot. I could never follow a religion that follows a god who calls people heathen sinners for simply being themselves, just cant...... And have you noticed how some religions just THROW it down your throat?... I just cant stand that..... And thats my take on this discussion.

That's what agnosticism is, A lack of a belief of a god yet no real opposition to the idea of some other-worldly being.

Something i should note here is, I know there are several different branches of religion's such as Catholicism vs Presbyterianism but iv'e decided to bunch the poll up to general religions as otherwise the poll would be hundreds of options long

I believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, duh. The Flying Spaghetti Monster made us all with His Noodly Appendages, and everything else in this planet!

In all seriousness, I am an atheist. I believe we all are just organisms living in a godless world, and nothing else.

And there is a thread about this already.

Must not... respond... but someone is wrong on the internet! ohmy.png

Anyway, That's not what agnosticism is. Agnosticism is simply the understanding that, at this time, we cannot prove or disprove the existence of a deity. Furthermore, atheism isn't the opposition to the concept if a deity. What you're thinking of is anti-theism. Atheism is just the lack of a belief in a deity. In other words, the default position.

You can also be an agnostic-atheist, which is how you might describe me, or an agnostic-theist. Agnosticism doesn't necessarily say anything about whether or not you actually believe in a deity.

Also, I think we already have a thread for this.  img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png

Yeah I would consider myself an agnostic atheist as well. I don't really personally believe in a god, but there is really no way to absolutely prove or disprove the existence of one. So yeah.

We have a life advice forum? I haven't found that yet. I don't actually need any life advice so I haven't looked for it. That probably explains why I haven't found it.

I'm baptised into the Mormon church, but I don't practice anymore (I haven't been to church in many years).

As for my personal beliefs, I'm more of an agnostic-theist: hypothetically speaking, if God is truly all-powerful where He can bend reality to His will, and He wants to stay hidden from us for whatever reason, then it will be completely impossible to us to prove that He exists. On the flip side, to also cite proof that He doesn't or cannot exist is also blatant arrogance. If God influences us, we'll never know, so I'm not able to believe with certainty that God doesn't exist. There are just too many unknowns. That's my logic.

In short: it is impossible to know for certain whether a higher power exists, but I'm leaning more towards "yeah, it probably does."

I think it's mostly because it's unfalsifiable. There's countless of ideas about what God is, or who they are. Whenever you disprove one concept, someone else can quickly come up with another version. Even if we hypothetically reach the point where can see and know everything about the universe, and we find out that there really aren't any gods, someone could easily say; "Oh, that's because [insert deity] exists beyond everything and we can't understand it".

Personally, I don't care much if there is or isn't a God(s), but I just haven't been presented with any convincing evidence to make me believe.

I'm a christian who has to admit he can't follow everything in the bible.  Basically I don't even know if I'd call it "christian".  I believe Jesus was God and I believe he showed me the way I'm supposed to live, but I also believe that the old testament often contradicts what he taught so I guess the militant atheists would say I'm a "cherry picker" christian.  To me I just know the bible changed my life, I love the words and actions of Jesus, I want to be selfless like him, most of the lessons of the bible resonate me, some disturb me and I just say "I don't know why those are in there, nor do I find it important, the parts of the bible that help me be a better person help me be a better person and that's good enough for me"  I pray all the time and trust God to work in my life and the lives of others, but I also believe that since the bible says God is love, following love IS following God.  Therefore I don't do any "converting" other than "converting" people to loving others.

I'm pretty open to other beliefs too, I don't think that the bible is the ONE source of truth.  It's MY source of truth, but I find that many buddhist teachings and even muslim teachings can line up with it just fine.  I'm often told Im a heretic by christians and a hypocrite by militant atheists.  But the more moderate atheists tend to love me cause I'm a christian who lets them be them.

And as far as evolution and the big bang, I'm sorry but evolution makes precious little sense to me and I've gotten into COUNTLESS debates over this that usually end up in me and the person losing respect for one another or the atheist wanting me to watch an endless number of teaching series by richard dawkins or something when I'm just like "Dude, if you can't explain it yourself then just leave it alone".  I'd give my reasons why I don't buy evolution, and I don't mean MICRO evolution, I mean ORIGIN thesis.  I just don't think it makes any sense, I've studied it, and studied it, and I'm just like "the chances of this are so slim..."  But seriously, let's just... keep it to ourselves and not debate it.

I hardly think it's important.  I'm not one to say that they should teach intelligent design in schools, or one to care that you believe in evolution.  All debating it has ever gotten me was a headache and a loss of friends.  So I guess I just mentioned that cause it was brought and to give a lose idea of where I stand on the whole origin thing.  I don't deny the earth is way older than most christians think and don't believe in a literal Genesis creation either.  To be quite honest, I don't think I could expect to know how it all began and find it a bit ridiculous to even think man COULD figure it out.  We're here now, let's treat each other well, we don't have to agree where we came from, let's decide more so to agree on where we're going.  :)

I don't follow a religion, and I'm an atheist. I was a Christian in the past, or at least thought I was... But it wasn't really a strong deeply held belief for me, merely mostly wishful thinking. In fact that's all it was in the end. In truth I've never seen any reason myself to believe there actually was a God, and now I don't even see such a thing really being feasible with this world and universe (aside from a Deistic God).

To elaborate why i am an Agno-Non-Gennisisian-Christian Is because i believe that god caused the big bang, He started life out and set it down it's path, And because the fossil record and carbon dating shows that this stuff must have happened, I believe that the stories of genesis were incorrect and most likely an exaggeration.

Pastafarian reporting in. All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

Seriously though, I'm an atheist. Nobody really belives in FSM. I personally use it as a great tool to make fun of all those religious fanatics. For some reason it makes them furious img-1607925-1-img-387689-1-5e7kmu.png

I actually find pastafarianism to be hysterical as well LOL  All hail his great noodly appendage hahahahaha plus I can't stand fanatical christians as much as any atheist can't so we're usually on the same page in that regard.

Hi there. Just a heads-up that I've merged your thread with this one.

When thinking about making a thread, please use the search function beforehand~

Yup.  The search function is always a good idea, especially now that the Debate Pit exists.  I suspect most members probably didn't notice when it was first introduced, since it's neatly tucked away in its own child board.

[The Life Advice board is] in the Everfree Forest section, for those who are having a hard time in their lives and want advice or people to support them.

It's a nice idea, but be prepared for long-winded posts.  Its minimum character count is 200, which is arguably counter-productive.  Most people on that board simply wants a few words of encouragement, not some speech along the lines of "when my brother's roommate's hair-dresser had that same problem..." which is what the board rules invariably force people to submit.

I think I'll rephrase why I'm Agnostic.

Organized Religions makes no sense and I don't get why people follow them. Christianity is riddled with so many holes and paradoxes it's not even funny. Why are so many people so prone to ignoring actually history and are content with following books riddled with lies.

People should also read the fan fic, The Pegasus Device, puts certain things into perspective

People should as read the fan fic, The Pegasus Device, puts certain things into perspective

I've had so many debates about this.  I will give you that there are some holes in christianity, but there's also INSANELY compelling evidence that it's true.  But here's the other thing.  Atheists and people of logic and reason, they see things in a "prove it to me where is the evidence" kind of way.  I just let my heart lead me, and when I read the bible the teachings in it cause my heart to soar, as if everything finally makes sense, then factor in when I apply them in my life, they WORK, then factor in that I feel like I can see God working in my life when I am expecting him to and following biblical principles, and I really don't care about the holes.  I DO agree that there are troubling things in the bible I cannot explain, but I am not going to throw out all that I gain from it over some contradictions, I simply trust that it will make sense to me someday and I'm not meant to know the answers right now.  Not everyone has to be able to explain everything about what they believe to truly believe it.  It's just two different ways of looking at life.

I used to have a youtube channel called symphcontroversy, it's still up I just don't upload to it.  I had soooo many debates with atheists and christians alike there... it... it killed all my willpower to debate.  If anything I just explain myself now.  Just kind of like "well this is why I see it this way, no I don't think that what you say is as cut and dry as you make it sound" but I never get into the details anymore.  I always found that to be a horrifically obnoxious merry go round.

Simple. Just post in your religion. If its not included, quote this post and tell me what it is. I'll add it.

I'm actually a Misotheist (Misotheism)

I really don't know many other that share my beliefs, yet Antithiests (Antitheism) is pretty close.

And as for why, well if there is such thing as god, he's obviously a fucking asshole.

There's so much shit in the world people are doing in the name of god/gods I mean come on no one's gonna believe your lies.

Wars/Homicide/Abuse?

Rejecting human rights?

Homophobia/Transphobia?

Anything someone doesn't approve of but doesn't want to look like a complete asshole?

I don't believe in any god and frankly I hate them all.

I very much so believe in spirits, and all of that kind of stuff. I also believe in reincarnation. I've seen little pure white orbs before in the middle of the night. Obviously these freaked me out. Were they good, or bad? I don't know.

I actually experienced the exact same thing before! At the time, I was, mostly in secret, studying a lot of spiritual realms and witchcraft. Hindsight is 20/20, so it's no surprise that in my searching for spirits, I was found by spirits. There are actually a lot more stories I could tell...

Simple. Just post in your religion. If its not included, quote this post and tell me what it is. I'll add it.

While I'm here, may I suggest that you also add Bahá'í to the poll? It's a religion based on finding God throughout all the world's major religions, and gleaning wisdom from their scriptures. Edited by MontagnaMagica
